I'm hearing rumour and counter rumour about Andy Burnham and North Sea Oil and Gas. If he says the wrong thing, his entire hope and trust agenda will be in the bin - not just on climate. We'll know he can be bought to do what he knows is wrong. So I'm sitting here with my fingers crossed.

Exactly. There will be no new normal. The weather will keep becoming more extreme until the world decarbonises. We might have the odd calmer year but the trend will be more extreme. So today’s UK weather is the least extreme we can ever expect. Time to finally WAKE UP.

NO! It's going to keep getting hotter year-on-year, decade-by-decade Until we stop pumping out greenhouse gases and positive feedback loops and tipped tipping points have finished with us And the temperature will stay elevated for many thousands of years www.theguardian.com/world/video/...

Some people assume symptoms are the only way for humans to wake up to the climate crisis I say that mechanism alone can never be in time but we can do better. Either way here, probably, comes the biggest dose of symptoms so far. Get ready for an even wobblier world. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Just re-reading bits of Peter Oborne's 2005 excellent book 'The Rise of Political Lying'. Back then he called out so many examples of Peter Mandleson's clear cut lies. Now wee see the concequence of tolerating this. Can we, as a society, learn the lesson in time? (btw pls come to BlueSky Peter)
