I'm sure that cloud will move soon?! Oh and the wildfire smoke! 😬
Devolution needs data to succeed: @ldncdo.bsky.social Theo Blackwell explains why devolution requires data as well as powers and money; and why ‘practical devolution needs a centre that is more, not less, active in a rewired state’ to achieve this 🔽 futuregovforum.substack.com/p/devolution...

I'm on holiday (in Hay-on-wye, the town full of books), and have just finished this wonderful book. Off to get the second in the series in a bit.. 📖
I have a long term project walking the 'Wainwrights' (Lake District summits). To add interest I am doing them only using public transport and my feet (like Wainwright) and in book order (like Wainwright!). This weekend I completed Book 2. I've been mapping my routes using @observablehq.com Plot.
'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)
Gatwick gets a second runway approved 🛫, Oil company profits double 🤑 and Burnham considering more North Sea oil and gas drilling 😭. Good job we're not go through record breaking temperatures, drought and wildfires, otherwise there'd be uproar!! 🤬

This is wildly irresponsible of Google - allowing people to create AI generated satellite images. Satellite imagery has always been such a useful and reliable source because it came from reliable sources, but now Google is messing with it at source. www.digitaldigging.org/p/how-to-pla...

63 grass fires in one day. That's the challenge London's firefighters faced yesterday. My thanks goes out to them for all their hard work. We all have a part to play in reducing that risk. Keep sparks, cigarettes and anything hot well away from dry grass. If you spot a fire, call 999.
