After founding Invertase and leading the technical vision for the last 8 years, my employment there has come to an end and it's time to move on to new adventures. Excited for what's next - I'll be sharing more soon.

🔥 First of a few announcements Happy to share that I am officially a @firebase.com GDE again! 🎉 I wouldn't be where I am today without Firebase and all the people I've met along the way, excited to be able to give back with more content and talks coming from me this year!

3 days ago I opened an issue with a performance degradation in Flutter (#165959), it was triaged in 3h, response from someone that could fix the issue (Jonah) in 7h, draft PR up after 8h, and now the PR is merged! Thanks for an incredibly fast response from the Flutter team on this! 💙

Just another cursor rule will fix it! Just one more!

👀 We ended 2024 with a working system and we started 2025 with a refactor of that same system.

Been developing on my Windows desktop for a few weeks now... ...it hasn't been terrible 🤔

Back home, she's so high right now 😂 glued to watching cat TV

We are here! 💙💜

Hello Bluesky! We were told this is the place where the cool people hang out, is there some room here for this little game engine? 🥺

Flame 3D runs smooth on physical Android devices as well! Seems it doesn’t work on emulators tho 😅 Credits to @mikediarmid.bsky.social for testing my sample game

Oh look what has appeared: @flame-engine.org About dang time eh

Anyone tried @linkdr_? → Looking for feedback and "before" and "after." Looking for concrete results 👀 Seems promising but it's a bit expensive.

Thanks stress 🥲 In other news some of my favourite conference t-shirts now fit again 😂

Playing around with the working-in-progress 3D capabilities of Flutter (using Impeller and Flame 3D) The "world" is made out of multiple chunks, each chunk is it's own mesh with a single surface of 16x16 tiles (4 vertices per tile). Running at max FPS on both my iPhone and macOS ⚡

Started on a new approach yesterday: pixel based canvas renderer that is using half block ascii characters to increase pixel density - interleaved with text support Let's see how this goes 😂

Mike Diarmid@mikediarmid.bsky.social · 2y ago

It's a canvas-like implementation for terminal apps written in Dart 🤷
