Very hot survey yesterday of a fantastic long barrow near Downton, #Wiltshire. Great detail of internal trapezoidal enclosure and interesting segmented ditch. Similar barrows with enclosures all seem to be along the eastern edge of the Avon Valley. #Neolithic #Archaeology

The outer ditches flanking the Portway #Roman road are currently showing clearly as parch marks near Old Sarum hillfort, #Wiltshire. They line up with the modern road through Old Sarum that follows the line of the Portway. #Archaeology

Big fire at Old Sarum #Salisbury now

I've been out surveying around a #Neolithic long barrow with AVAS this weekend. The results are superb, particularly as we were using an old Geoscan single sensor FM36, kindly loaned by Bournemouth University via the LoCATE project. Surveyed under a Section 42 licence. #Archaeology #Geophysics
