Renaming EVALI to reflect that nicotine e-cigs were not the cause remains critically important. I am hopeful that with Jay Bhattacharya at the helm at CDC, our 2021 petition signed by 75 experts will be given a second look and this scientific misclassification corrected.

More: This gives the Trump CDC an opportunity to right a serious public health wrong that has also impeded a transformation of the marketplace to far safer, alternative nicotine products.

Happy to announce the program for the 15th Workshop on the Economics of Risky Behavior, to be held in Cagliari, 🇮🇹 on July 8–9, 2026. Grateful to @au-spa.bsky.social for serving as the main organizer & sponsor, and my local partners—Claudio Deiana, Ludovica Giua, & Marco N. Nieddu—for their support.

I recommend completing your taxes up to the point of submitting, then running through ChatGPT. It saved me a few hundred dollars. You can buy a lot of beer with a few hundred dollars.

Your disrespect isn't cool. There is no place in academia for that. Like we told you at the time, have a qualifying co-author submit the work and it will be fairly considered based on its merits, just like any other submission.

#ASHEcon2026 I am organizing 2 sessions for conference in Minneapolis, MN June 7-10. Looking for abstracts: 1) policy revolving around marijuana and alcohol use or co-use of illicit drugs 2) policy food/nutritional changes from drug decriminalization/legalization, or other impactful policy.

I looked at the position paper you referenced. I don't believe it engages a single quasi-experimental study for the conclusions reached. Systematic reviews of the quasi-experimental evidence show the opposite conclusion: e-cigarettes displace smoking.

My co-author Rachel Fung is presenting an awesome paper tomorrow at 2 PM New York time on early 20th century cigarette prohibition laws in the USA! #History buffs, get your popcorn out. Registration is free; see you there.
