A lot of people, including me, were wondering how an IRB could ever approve this study. The answer is that no IRB did. The person who “signed off” on approval from the only ethics board that reviewed it had resigned three years earlier. His signature was used without his knowledge.
A retired Minneapolis couple who had guns pointed at them by ICE in a church parking lot. "They were obviously not trained at all. I've known many police officers in my life. These people were right off the streets." "They had the professional demeanor of criminals." ht: @paulgraham.bsky.social
If anyone said that they wanted a president who could piss off Canadians, Danes and Minnesotans I would have taken that bet and said “no way, can’t be done”.
“Ask any doctor who worked with him and they will tell you: he protected. He taught. He defended women colleagues. He bought coffee for broken interns. He made the ICU more human. That is what great nurses do. They don’t just carry out orders. They carry the unit.” -A physician friend of Pretti
my takeaway from this letter is that glenn youngkin, rector sheridan and their flunkies on the board are deeply dishonest people who are engaged, with the trump administration, in a mob-style shakedown against the university of virginia
Former UVA president Jim Ryan, who resigned over the summer due to pressure from the Trump Administration, just shared this 12-page letter with the Faculty Senate, detailing his experience with the Board of Visitors and DOJ. It's a surreal--and troubling--read. drive.google.com/file/d/1Is6x...

They need to put this cyclist's age in the headline: he's 77 years old!
A French cyclist survived for three days after a horrendous 130-foot fall into a ravine, kept alive by the bottles of red wine he had in his shopping bag, police said.
there are breads that i enjoy making myself — any quickbread, sourdough boules and batards, flatbreads, biscuits etc. — but you’ll never catch me making a baguette or croissant at home. i live a short bike ride from three boulangeries!
a big thing i learned about myself during covid is that i just want to buy a goddamned baguette from the store or the bakery, i literally never want to make the damned thing myself

Excellent account of the efforts by judges to stop weekend mass removals of people caught up in ICE's attempts to shovel people out of the country without due process.
This time around, Judge Sparkle Sooknanan had a big advantage over Boasberg: She knew what had happened the last time. That made all the difference. The result is that the children are still in the U.S.—and an ongoing legal process will decide their fate. www.lawfaremedia.org/article/the-...
Also, this Trump IG just left the DoJ after he conveniently LOST the Bove whistleblower complaint because Trump has installed him as the watchdog for the Federal Reserve. NOTHING TO SEE HERE.
NEW: Trump’s DoJ inspector General “lost” one of the whistleblower complaints against Emil Bove from May and they didn’t find it until *yesterday* - the day of Bove’s confirmation. DoJIG (Horowitz) was one of only two IGs Trump didn’t fire whistlebloweraid.org/new-whistleb...
