I’m a strong believer that public sector jobs should pay MORE than the private sector and also have better benefits. Admittedly, part of that is because I do work for the public sector, but my decision to do that is mostly because there is no private sector version of my job really.

It’s wild that I can watch the Kelly Clarkson footage and feel like it totally supports her story. The owner seems like a dismissive jerk towards her from the body language. But then others see her as the “Karen”.

As someone with autism I am…nonplussed by the story of the person who died after jumping into a tiger enclosure in the zoo, specifically the fact that the vast majority of people have decided he must have had “special needs” because…he looks like it?

At this point anyone still giving them money are just pay pigs in a complex non-sexual fin dom situation.

Currently on TikTok some people believe that the reason that the execution didn’t work is because the prisoner had killed in Satan’s name and therefore gained immortality thus kicking off the end times (again). Which is guess is better(?) than having to deal with the fact that America is cruel.

I feel like “learn a trade” is the new version of “learn to code” where it is held up as the easy path to big money. But not everyone can code, and even people who learn will not necessarily have a huge career. It also is a career with a lot of injuries.

Apparently the Heated Rival fandom is furious because the author of the books said she didn’t write a scene of one character coming out to his team because it “wasn’t necessary”. In my day we would have written fanfic about it instead of canceling the author.

There are people in this world whose entire sense of purpose is to jump in replies and tell people to harm themselves. Most people would find this sad, but as someone who grew up in a fucked ip family I find it warmly nostalgic.

Taking the day off because I am going to a Weird Al contest tonight. Taking the day off work tomorrow because I’m going to a Weird Al concert tonight.

Nothing has made me more aware of how “not normal” my brain is than when I’m listening to people talking about how AI has helped them in their lives. This is not a diss. I am very happy AI has helped you manage your calendar or come up with dinner ideas. Not for me.

There’s this thing when you are depressed and you have convinced yourself that everything is pointless bullshit so we should just stay in bed and die. But eventually, with therapy and medication, you realize that everything is pointless bullshit so we have got to go out and live.

People are assuming that this person is a troll. They aren’t. They exist and I am sure that stories will be coming out from people who have interacted with them IRL (they were involved with the DSA in Denver IIRC, before they quit and started picketing the DSA).

We joke that the Mass Masking Lesbian Bar is peak Bluesky but truly, Threads is where it is at on this. Just person after person using it as a jumping point for their own pet cause that is only tangentially related to the topic.

Look, the world is awful but I'm in a new dress and the weather is nice enough that I get to walk to work instead of drive. And the bagel guy remembers my order even though I haven't been there in three months (because of the weather).

Sometimes I am by myself in my house and nothing is wrong but there’s just this weird emptiness in my chest and this deep longing for something I can’t name and it’s like…why? And then I remember I do that clinical depression and it’s like…oh, right.

The COVID-19 Pandemic was, pretty much, an actual world ending event and...it was not cool or exciting and was pretty boring with moments of tragedy when we'd lose someone.
