Interesting quote, and what I believe too #mglit #kidlit … editors say they want “shorter attention-grabbing middle grade that is going to hit that high-interest, low-reading level.” … editors no longer want texts that are more than 50,000 words www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...

Middle Grade Is Down but Never Out

We asked children’s book agents about trends they are seeing in the category, and how they persevere in a tough market.

I am back after being hacked. Just deleted hundreds of terrible posts from someone who was seemingly upset by my Tesla post. Sorry if anyone saw that. 2 factor is now on!

I’ve seen all the best picture noms except Nickel Boys (watching that tonight) and I’m Still Here (not yet on digital). At the moment I expect Brutalist for best picture, Adrian Brody for best actor, Demi Moore for best actress, Kieran Culkin for supp. actor, Isabella Rossellini for supp. actress.

I second this! It’s still a career highlight that Erin read GHOSTS COME RISING and made a video on instagram about it. Meant so much.

On a day in which many are praising @erinentrada.bsky.social for her Newbery win, I also want to shout her out for the encouragement & support she heaps onto the writing community. I first "met" Erin when I won a critique from her (side note-- don't sleep on this: www.32auctions.com/organization...)

I’ve been on a run of great movies lately. The Order, The Substance, Red Rooms, Heretic. Watching Nosferatu tonight. Hope my streak continues.

Good time to remind everyone that my app ClipClop has launched and is open for registration. But if you post anything other than horse content, I will ban you. #tiktok

For the first time in over 15 years, I am starting a new project in something other than #Scrivener (Apple Pages if you’re curious—no AI training). I’m writing more on iPad and iPhone, and Scriveners wonky Dropbox syncing is the reason. I hope they fix, but it’s been 9 years ... #kidlit

Kidlit, honest question--if a living author who has received the Newbery Medal is exposed as a vile, predatory creature, can the ALA revisit that award and give it to the Honoree that received the committee's second-most votes?
