I spoke with McConnell for 20 minutes this morning. He said do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth. There is no spoon. Then you'll see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.

I was advised very strongly by my editor to soften a scene from my pirate adventure fantasy novel that featured the FMC hanging a crew member who attempted to foment a mutiny against her. He was okay with the hanging, but he didn't like the details. 🙄
