Compliance is not success

I feel gross thinking students used AI because it reminds me of Stand and Deliver when the state didn’t think those students could succeed. I also think we’ve lost the point. We have to uphold academic integrity but we also have to get it right and frame it-“I don’t care about AI-I care about you.”

"When teachers enter practice settings where they can fulfill their role in a way that is consistent with their image of 'being a teacher', they probably experience a great deal of satisfaction"-Piantanida, 2019. To what weight should this truth be given? I feel like there is a lot to unpack here.

We have people boldly saying the most vile things all over this country, and in this administration. We have had poison spewed about trans people, childfree women, immigrants. "They're eating the dogs. They're eating the cats!" But an op-ed in a *college newspaper* was a bridge too far for them?!

Intervention in language is not about fixing a kid. It IS about fixing a system that didn't provide access in the first place. Did the student receive instruction in a way they could understand, process, and use in Tier-1 instruction?

I'm taking a class on project management & something I'm realizing is how poorly I spoke in interviews about my work in building systems when interviewing. I did the work of project management without ever thinking of it as project management, so when it came to interviews,

It feels like-sometimes- crisis is used to justify prioritizing compliance over conceptualization which leads to poor results and crisis which justifies compliance… We can’t forget how important the stories we tell and hear are because those are the stories our students see and hear #elsky #edusky

If you want. your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales.
If you want then to be more intelligent, read then read more fairy tales.

The framing that Ukraine is the unreasonable party is wild when they were damn country that was invaded. They didn't ask for any of this- The purpose of the national and global "right-wing" movements is to subjugate- their belief that power and influence only come from dominion over others

I actually hate the "lol the giant asteroid will deliver us from this suffering" jokes. Are there any other people in the progressive movement who think that humans are actually fucking amazing?

Good morning, my people. As I'm sitting here lesson planning for graduate students, I'm reminded how educators have a role in building the societies we wish to see. I don't take that responsibility lightly. We need to build it lesson by lesson, too. Let's get into it.
