I am in the "Am I suddenly fat or is creatine making me retain water around my abs?" phase of creatine loading. It has made recovery MUCH better, which has allowed stronger/easier lifting, but I'm definitely less lean-appearing, even when exercise is UP + diet is good.

Kerim Alajbegovic moves from Leverkusen to Juventus (33-40m). Very promising wide left forward. On the one hand, he clearly needs to be taught about finding better shooting locations. On the other hand, there's decent sample to say he's probably a good finisher from range.

A side benefit of the fuss over the Odyssey movie is that people have been interviewing Homer translator Emily Wilson, who is unfailingly interesting on these matters. Her new talk with @dkthomp.bsky.social, who has the wit (all too rare among interviewers) to stay out of the way, is terrific.

Working in football clubs is generally just waiting for a WhatsApp message that ruins your working day. Could be a collapsed deal, an injury, a massive unexpected expense, or an unwelcome transfer offer. It normally happens whenever you think preparations for the season are going pretty well.

Amazing family holiday to Tofino. It's the edge of the world and all Canada, but accents from everywhere. Food surprisingly good way out here, and obviously the scenery is second to none.

Bad set piece defending by England. Basically leaves the best attacking passer in the world in space every time because they fail to send a second player out on short corners.
