I am in the "Am I suddenly fat or is creatine making me retain water around my abs?" phase of creatine loading. It has made recovery MUCH better, which has allowed stronger/easier lifting, but I'm definitely less lean-appearing, even when exercise is UP + diet is good.
Today's realisation: I do not have enough summer clothes for a two-week trip to Montpellier and Barcelona.
Impossible standard— “I accomplished two things while I was addicted to heroin: I wrote Exile on Main Street. Also, I learned to ski."
Worried that Emily Wilson is establishing a rockstar standard for translators that will kill future generations of classicists like Keith Richards’ tolerance killed a generation of succeeding rock stars
Any of you using the ios version of Patreon to support me, switch to the browser version instead, cuz the apple fees have actually taken over 3000 usd from me in the course of a year
I'm begging you not to use apple products. This shit is devastating to creators like me
Is anyone playing anything worth recommending lately? - I enjoyed the Diablo4 expansion. - Bounced hard off Orb of Creation. - STS2 is excellent, but have stopped until full release. What else do I need to play?
Kerim Alajbegovic moves from Leverkusen to Juventus (33-40m). Very promising wide left forward. On the one hand, he clearly needs to be taught about finding better shooting locations. On the other hand, there's decent sample to say he's probably a good finisher from range.
Real Madrid want to sell Vini Jr, and Arsenal want to buy him. But there might not be a way to get the money to make sense. www.thetransferflow.com/p/rumour-rou...

A month ago, I asked whether to re-read Dungeon Crawler Carl from scratch before dipping into Book 8 and consensus was: definitely. Well done to the consensus, you were right. What a fantastic ride, and Dinniman is now tackling huge ideas.
Reminder: We are in 2x weekly digest mode for @thetransferflow.bsky.social right now, as we have some holidays and start work on the world's best English Premier League previews. This week there will be one tomorrow and one Friday.
Three superstar wingers. Three different clubs. One summer to sort it all out. Our new episode breaks down where Vinicius, Barcola, and Diomande actually end up, and why squad depth is Arsenal's next big problem. Plus: Tchouameni to Man United www.youtube.com/watch?v=suMb...

A side benefit of the fuss over the Odyssey movie is that people have been interviewing Homer translator Emily Wilson, who is unfailingly interesting on these matters. Her new talk with @dkthomp.bsky.social, who has the wit (all too rare among interviewers) to stay out of the way, is terrific.
What Is Lost When We Make 'The Odyssey' Modern
Christopher Nolan's 'Odyssey' is an extraordinary, modern epic. Homer's Odyssey is an even more extraordinarily strange one.

The Morgan Rogers deal potentially ruining the high-end transfer market for players like Barcola, Diomande, and (v unlikely) Vinicius Jr. this summer is exquisite theatre. Every seller loves an insane anchor, even when they actually want to move the player.
Working in football clubs is generally just waiting for a WhatsApp message that ruins your working day. Could be a collapsed deal, an injury, a massive unexpected expense, or an unwelcome transfer offer. It normally happens whenever you think preparations for the season are going pretty well.
Had an amazing meal at Farmer's Apprentice in Vancouver. Flavours were fresh and bright, with a ton of adventure. Atmosphere was relaxed, which was welcome, even if it might hurt their star rating. #teddining
Nico Williams to Arsenal, Real Madrid's midfield rebuild, Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers replacement, Newcastle's next striker and more. Seven transfer rumours, one episode. @hvanbrewer.bsky.social and @shelatneel.bsky.social break it all down: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRWI...

Dude was on the road a LONG time...
By far the funniest moment in Homer’s Odyssey is when Circe says, “Shall we have sex?” and Odysseus says, “You just turned all my men into pigs. You have the GALL to think I would sleep with you? Of course I will. Absolutely. But don’t do any weird spells”
Mikel "The Executioner" Merino coming on to... end things?
No World Cup opinion yesterday for Variance Betting because we don't bet on exhibitions. Today Spain is v likely the right side at -.25, but I'm going to sit back and appreciate it either way.
In Final Fantasy X, Auron keeps one of his arms in a sling and has alcohol on him at all times. This is a reference to the fact that he is 35.
Do you have any unusual kinks? Uh... foreign super markets on holiday and farmer's markets on the weekend.
Amazing family holiday to Tofino. It's the edge of the world and all Canada, but accents from everywhere. Food surprisingly good way out here, and obviously the scenery is second to none.
Had to limit replies on the other site, but if you send me angry replies here, I'll just nuke you. Thought Cox was right in that Tuchel got ALL the media blame, but the players were spinning before the subs. And England were fucking knackered.
Bad set piece defending by England. Basically leaves the best attacking passer in the world in space every time because they fail to send a second player out on short corners.
4 shots through 45 mins. Enjoyable, spiteful semi-final football?
