My lesbian bestie & I were talking about a friend who is going through a hard time emotionally & she ended the conversation with a robotic, “Beep, boop, moving on.”

Just said, “I don’t have a dog in this hunt.” Am I a bro now? Am I having a stroke? Is that even the phrase?
My friend & I always meet monthly at a different café & it’s a lovely challenge to find a new one & today my friend chose one where the barista said to me, “You have really nice eyes…& skin.” 😬
I feel like the goal of the administration & tech is to replace every university with an app called, like, Skolr.
The alphabet was original in QWERTY order, but unfortunately the song was notoriously difficult to sing. Only a handful of countertenors have ever dared to try.
The day was going south but then I got to use a letter opener & walked by a woman wearing a nude-verging-on-concealer lip walking in a cylinder of perfume.
Just a winsome & comely boy trying to get into his café (have a coffee! write something! experience cute thoughts!) but there’s construction worker taking a circular saw to the sidewalk to organ-vibratingly loud effect.
I don’t know about the afterlife, but I know my departed Mom is not letting me respond to my second most difficult aunt’s recent request for another luncheon date.
Two boys (me & my brother’s family’s dog) just hanging out.
Good morning! As I woke, shaft of sunlight across my torso, I remembered dreaming about posting to Bluesky that, due to budget cuts, Petrarchan & Shakespearean Sonnet Administrations had to share office space & how it was tense & blah blah argument, & blah blah volta. I knew everyone would LOVE it.
Had an iced coffee that made me feel like I’m in a Hitchcock film being projected upside down.
If you ever find yourself at my brother’s house, on any day of the year, there will be a glass container in the refrigerator with some sort of chicken dish (probably with mushrooms & curry) in it. Put some in a bowl & heat in the microwave for one minute, forty five seconds.
BlueNightSky. An envoy sighs with relief as he enters a guest bedroom in a country estate, pulls the face off his watch, & says, into it, “Operation chrysanthemum is a go! Repeat, chrysanthemum a go!” His back turned to it—a wardrobe door silently opens.
Month three of wearing a citrusy deodorant and, reader, love changes. The rush & near-danger of the new is replaced by something deeper. A life closed to me: suddenly open! A deep companionship I could not have predicted. Me & my citrusy deodorant.
One day I hope to sell my Bluesky account to a new poster and become Poster Emeritus
Café. Zoom meetings at a café are revolting & ill-mannered unless they end with a woman saying, like the woman two tables down just said, in a newscaster-y voice, “I guess we’re all saying yes when we mean no, Dan. The truth is you’re unclear, & freaked out, & we feel that.”
Maybe we need to bring back sexy & scandalous ad campaigns. Maybe a Tom of Finland style one for Sprouts.
I decided to stop being so quirky & eat outside because my friend wanted to eat outside & guess what? Meat looks just as savage & gristle-forward in direct sunlight as I thought it would & I got water from the mister in my eye & lemonade.
After a week of reflection, my second most difficult aunt is speaking to me again. I received a letter informing me of this.
Was having a fair-to-good day but then saw this 1961 photo of Yves Saint Laurent & realized I was, alas, doing everything wrong.
Such a thoughtful & fun interview, Michael! & the new issue of Different Leaf is amazing.
If one gets to occasionally toot one's own horn on Bluesky, considering me tooting my interview with MagCulture about the new issue of Different Leaf.
I hate mopping & my wretchedness while mopping with everything I have—& yet I would LOVE a video of me mopping (which would be hilarious & heartbreaking).
