My entire life I’ve never called it the FIFA World Cup. I’ve always called it the World Cup. Fans don’t give a shit about FIFA. If national teams showed up for a World Cup tournament not held by FIFA we would all watch it. World Cup is the brand. FIFA is nothing.

Tonight I did something I don’t think I’ve done in over 10 years, which was take myself on a solo date to a movie. Almost had the whole theatre to myself and saw a good film (The Invite) so it was a very lovely evening. I’m not a movie goer, but when I do go I make sure it’s memorable.

It's funny to see Europeans complain about the hydration break they put into soccer. In American Sports we have something called a "TV timeout", which is when the ref blows his whistle and stops the game because the billionaire who owns the team wants more money.

Now that the USA match is done I can watch tonight’s Love Island Because I contain multitudes 😂

I am in my sports era and it’s been a lot more stressful than I thought it would be 😅

I didn’t care much for Catch-22 at first but it’s really starting to grow on me about halfway through. I’ve been getting MASH the tv show vibes and when I looked this up I found they aren’t related, but I’m not the first person to think this either. Good stuff!

I’m already a series finale crier, but I was not prepared for “Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again” to start playing during the last episode of Hacks. Well done. 👏🏻

41/50: Tess of the D’Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy ✅ This had some of the lowest reviews on StoryGraph of all the books on my classics list, but, I don’t know, I couldn’t put it down! Good writing, and I didn’t see the ending coming at all. Pleasantly surprised!

It is currently cheaper for me to go to Iceland than it is to go visit family in Michigan this summer. 😅
