The Cardinals have claimed two players, via waivers

fwiw, according to baseball trade values: The Brewers reportedly acquired RHP Dustin May ($5.2M surplus trade value) and LHP JoJo Romero ($1.5M) from the STLCards  in exchange for OFs Alexander Frias ($23.1M) and Josiah Ragsdale ($4.5M) The deal is rejected by our model as an overpay by Milwaukee

My *guess* is the Brewers feel they’re selling high on Ragsdale, but that’s still a high floor. And Frias has the potential to make this look silly 5 years from now.

uhh.. frias and ragsdale is a steeper price than knoth and cole so that’s a decision. brewers have of depth but that price seems high

Current status: Comparing prospect packages isn't worth it. That's fair value for a rental. Impossible to know what Tigers valued (maybe they suck! Maybe they know things we don't!), impossible to know if teams like MKE got the chance to up ante. Or would have.

Over the last almost 20 years it’s such a weird mix of “we’ve actually been doing great things!” And “why haven’t we actually won anything yet?” And “big markets are unfair!” (Which is both true and less than true in other sports)

i could very well be wrong but my reactionary feeling is something like… brewers: here’s your fair offer dodgers: here’s a 30% worse offer but he wants to be here and we’ll give you 20 bucks mlb: take the la deal and help our profits

there it is. not surprised. probably for the best for the brewers honestly. go get some other pieces that won’t take a massive overpay and prove everyone wrong. “there’s only one thing left to do…”
