Confirmation that the Brewers offered at least one prospect better than Hope (Luis Peña) and at least one, maybe two, other Top 100 prospect bats. That would certainly seem to be a stronger offer, but the Tigers wanted a pitcher as part of the deal.

Look, I’m not super optimistic about the Brewers making the World Series this year, but what would “go for it” even look like once Skubal was off the board? Trading a bunch of Top 100 prospects for more SP3s who aren’t any better than what they already had?

I think if you want to be fairly generous with your assessment of the Brewers at the deadline, it’s that they may know this team’s chances at a World Series aren’t good if the middle of their lineup is doing this and nobody who was available was changing that

Marcum did well to get the Brewers to a deep playoff run (where his arm promptly fell off), but all anyone wanted to talk about was how much of a tragedy it was that the Brewers traded Lawrie away.
