Football (Burnley), most sports, rock and metal music, comedy, politics, trying to learn and understand more history. British and Pro-EU. DMs turned off.

Two takeaways from this: 1) Pressure works - they'd no choice in the end due to outrage 2) Just how morally bankrupt the Conservatives have become. They've always been awful but this is next level! BBC News - Ex neo-Nazi activist withdraws as Tory election candidate www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I'm not always on board with the English FA, but this is really positive. Well done to them and the Welsh FA, and I hope this encourages other national associations to do the same. BBC News - Gianni Infantino: FA set to withdraw support for Fifa president - BBC Sport www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...

In the United Kingdom, Covid resulted in 25,118,310 cases, and 232,112 deaths up to 26 January 2025. But go ahead and pretend it is something you can "just ask questions" about. Your podcast can go to hell. Please, my friends, stop listening to podcasts by people who know nothing but want clicks.

“I’m glad we live in a country that is deferential to expertise - but at times in the pandemic, that did go too far.” “I’m not sure school closures were a price worth paying.” Lewis on how ‘legitimate questions’ have emerged - and should be asked - about how we handled Covid.

Honestly, just when I think my contempt for FIFA couldn't get any stronger, they come out with this. Utterly outrageous! Well done UEFA, all other regions MUST follow suit BBC News - World Cup: Uefa furious at reports Fifa plan to sell stakes in tournament - BBC Sport www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...

World Cup: Uefa furious at reports Fifa plan to sell stakes in tournament

Just another example of the cringey subsection of our society that has had every advantage, has a massive sense of entitlement, very little self-awareness, and is permanently bitter. These are awful people and any patience I had with them ran out long ago.

Just loving how John Cleese, now reduced to one of his own caricatures, rages about immigrants coming to the UK and failing to accept "our" culture, from his home in ... (checks notes) ... Nevis in the Caribbean.

Fortunately I've never been a fan of Boy George, but it's still gut wrenching when someone with their profile shows themselves up to be a horrendous person. Get in the bin George! 😏

It's such short term thinking. The less coverage we're able to watch, the less interest there'll be in the event. It's already a dwindling festival of sport, this could be the death knell for what was once a lovely balance between competition and friendship (though with colonial origins).

How ironic that a huge American company, which has nothing to do with the Commonwealth , is able to outbid everyone to broadcast the Commonwealth Games, rendering many of us unable to view a major sporting event we are hosting!! But we must all kow tow to the market ugh.

*sigh* Aren't you at the stage where you need to get on the streets and stay there America? If not... after everything that's happened and continues to happen, what WILL get out there? It looks like you're losing your country and every day makes it harder to get it back, it's heartbreaking. 💔

Honestly, this is beautiful. I can't wait for him and his equally gruesome brother to be extradited back here, tried and given life sentences for the horrific crimes they've committed. Justice for their victims is long overdue and it will send the perfect message to any awful Tate wannabes out there

If you're wearing the new glasses, could you please hang a large, clearly legible sign to that effect around your neck, so I will know to stay away from you? Oh, and stay out of doctors' offices and everywhere else people's privacy is supposed to be protected.

It's great that Bylines are flagging these places up. I went to a Repair Cafe in Mytholmroyd and got my coffee machine fixed last year. These places are great, a lovely example of community spirit and togetherness, and an opportunity to repair all sorts of things rather than throwing them away.

A victory for football, well done Spain... and Argentina react in an entirely predictable manner. The good guys and the genuine footballers won today.

Half time is for reviewing the match with the people around you, and maybe popping into the concourse for a pie and a pint. You're holding up play now, stop this nonsense and get on with the match! #worldcup

While in the name of football, we all want the obvious team to win, there would also be something entirely fitting about this World Cup - defined by shameless corruption, pervasive greed, institutional cowardice and flagrant racism - being won by a team of outright cheats.

www.theguardian.com/news/2026/ju... Honestly, this has made my day. Send them back to us and let them face justice for the horrific crimes they've committed. They're a danger to women and girls, and a poison to a gullible subsection of young males. I hope they rot in prison.
