Shame on this administration. Their latest attempt to dismantle the Dept of Education—during American Education Week—is illegal and immoral. Not only do they want to starve and steal from our students—they want to rob them of their futures. Anyone who claims to care about children should be livid.

They’re planning on building a detention center for migrants in the middle of the fetid swamps of Florida. If you think this is something new, the first internment camp they sent me and my family to in 1942 was a barbed wire prison called Rohwer. It was located in the swamps of Arkansas.
This has to stop. Students, educators, and all our community members deserve to live in peace and safety. Our hearts go out to the Hortman and Hoffman families and all who care for them.

Last night, Capitol Police arrested roughly 60 veterans and their family members outside the U.S. Capitol. The group had gathered to hold a peaceful sit-in on the Capitol steps, but police intentionally set up a barrier of bike racks to prevent them from demonstrating.
