Sorry. We have become a nasty vindictive country. Any refugee given leave to remain earning enough to pay back this £10,000 will already be paying income tax. So effectively we are offering help in a crisis then charging twice them for the “privilege”.

Just an observation. Lots of people don’t eat meat. I personally wouldn’t eat a whale. Those of many faiths and none don’t eat some meats and pigs are portrayed as unclean in the Bible. So why do racists seem to think it’s hilarious to go on about bacon sandwiches to anyone of Muslim heritage ?
