I wrote EVERY ANXIOUS WAVE (SMP ‘16) and EPIC AND LOVELY (WVU Press '25). Bookseller. Elder Marfanoid. Indie kid forever. bravebookstore.substack.com
Last night I dreamed I purchased a Joe Biden commemorative bell.
I don't know who needs to hear this in 2026, (okay, I do) but if a bookseller provides you with MANY RECOMMENDATIONS and you say to that bookseller, "I'll just order it on Amazon," you are STEALING LABOR in addition to being rude. You should have told me beforehand so I could blow you off.
My friends and I talk shit about people who use AI to make flyers for events. We don’t go to these events because of the flyers. If people aren’t going to your shit, it’s the AI flyer.
Can raccoons have Marfan syndrome? This looks like a raccoon with Marfan.

It is a critical failure of the left that the explosive diarrhea parasite outbreak has not already been branded "The RFK Runs" or "The MAHA Squirts" or "The Trump Trots" or something along those lines. "Oh, man, I can't go because I got a bad case of J.D. Pants."
This is still my diarrhea pennant. Maybe Dyna will put up some diarrhea pennant stickers for the stricken.
This looks like photoshop, but is a photo for a REAL FELT PENNANT I had made for a friend's bathroom decor. It says "DIARRHEA." RAH RAH RAH!
I met the author of this wonderful book today! We talked about being Armenian-American writers, even though no one knows I'm Arm-Am because I rarely write about it. Coming 9/8! www.hup.harvard.edu/books/978067...

I assume that, post-Yesteryear, we’ll be seeing a bunch of on-the-nose novels about wealthy women and their relation to patriarchy.
I'm enjoying MAN OVERBOARD by Kathleen Rooney, if you're looking for an interesting new release.
July 4, 1976 was a great day for me. My mom took me to Sears Portrait Studio that week for photos on a dirty-looking piece of carpet in front of an image of fireworks and the flag. I'm lucky to have been born at a time when moms put their babies on dirty carpet for photos.
I got recognized as "that writer" at the place where my sugar daddy of a husband takes me to buy colorful skirts.
Reminder: perhaps the easiest & cheapest way to tell Bezos to fuck off is by linking to Bookshop or (even better) an indie bookstore WHENEVER you talk about a book online. W/o a link people will just google it & that will lead to Amazon. W a link you can send a sale to a good business

If you post shitsy AI images, I unfollow you. Simple as that.
The film rights for Every Anxious Wave are available. They were owned for about six years between two parties, who gave up. There's even a completed screenplay in existence. If anyone's interested, let me know.
My first novel, Every Anxious Wave, has both asteroids and Elliott Smith: stereogum.com/2502565/aste...
Asteroid Named After Elliott Smith
An asteroid has been officially named after the late, great Elliott Smith. Orlando Campopiano, an independent filmmaker based in Edinburgh, got the idea while listening to “Shooting Star” off Smith’s ...

The older I get the more I realize how much a person is truly left behind in certain ways when they don’t have good parents. Also how many people, for most of my life, have measured “good parenting” by whether or not the kid survived childhood. Never mind what condition this new adult was left in.
A customer handed back a copy of a George Saunders book like it was doodoo I am SHOOK.
I hate getting Father's Day promos. My dad has been dead over 2/3 of my life. It's most of my personality. I'm the Dead Dad Girl. Come on, Ancestry.com, I'm sure my dad is glad he didn't live to see your bullshit.

I have not seen this before! It was indeed a prank call. And not a very good one!
Am I the only one who feels disgusted when someone describes food as “viral?” I know it doesn’t mean “contains viruses” but that’s what you said.
My friend group's go-to example of an asshole is dead Muppet Harvey Kneeslapper. I love this for us.
FTR I don’t believe that every asshole has a PD. Sometimes a dick is just a dick. Harvey Kneeslapper does not have a cluster B personality disorder.
Unpopular opinion: I think anyone should use the term "narcissist" to describe whatever the fuck they want. Women are used to not being believed or cared about when they say "this person hurt me." It's also a softer word for "abuser." Don't hate the player, hate the game.
There’s a whole essay to be written about how “narcissist” has become a neutralizing stand in for “misogynist.” When women are met with hostility for critiquing masculinity, there’s a temptation to hide those critiques in something else. But sexual violence isn’t a personality, it’s patriarchy.
Nora Lange called me an icon earlier today, so I'm going to go with that.
