I promise, I will never complain about Autumn again. You can all have your apples and blankets and tiny cups of tea. I was wrong to like Summer. I take it all back!

It's really interesting how the vast majority of videogames that attempt to perform any kind of political, or cultural critique are satires. At least once they get any kind of meaningful development budget.

A red flame in Barad-dûr, based on the conversation in the most recent shelved by genre episode. I wanted the city to look both industrial and unsettling, so I tried to use a real mix of building styles, and avoid too many curves/natural shapes.

A scan of a pen and ink drawing of Barad-dûr, inspired by the conversation in the most recent shelved by genre episode. It shows the moment when Frodo, on Mount Doom, looks towards Barad-dûr and as the clouds part sees a red flame in the highest tower, the only image of Sauron the books give us. The drawing depicts barad-dûr in dense, hatched pen, full of narrow, crowded streets and industrial buildings, shrouded in darkness and cloud. A red pen has been used to mark the flame, the only colour in the drawing.

the eternal struggle between wanting to make music in the evening while also being utterly incompetent at it.

Got a really nice comment over the weekend that "My ebook is littered with highlights because I kept finding bits that I needed to show to my partner because they were so upsetting or funny or hot." So if you're also a resident of the upsetting/funny/hot nexus, give it a peek...

Scooby Doo Philosopher (Debut novel MORE BUGS out now)!!!@dayofthemutants.bsky.social · 2mo ago

Two years ago, I became a novelist in the eyes of commerce. And I'm still proud of my creepy, body-snatching, UFO-sighting, romantic, sinister, funny debut. 🛸🐞💙📚💦🏡 MORE BUGS! You should read it: emreed.net/more_bugs Thank you Sacha F. Lees for the sick illustration!! (linktr.ee/sachafrancis)

a scientific style illustration of someone with staring eyes and insect like mandibles emerging from the outer skin of a different person

I think something that's overlooked with convoluted and maze-like level design is that there are about as annoying to build as they are to navigate. So in that sense, both player and designer, suffer in equal measure.

Noticed that the one negative review for GB Rober, where it was very obvious that person has only played the intro and then chose to rant about it, was removed. I assume it was because they saw my excellent guide on how to "win" the intro and realized the error of their ways.

Playing Live A Live makes me want to make a similar game like it at some point, but the question is: If I were to make a genre specific JRPG, what type of genre would I pick? My first impulse was "Murder Mystery", but I'm not sure.
