Follow That Bird, 1985. I grabbed onto the seat and wouldn't let go when it was time to leave.
First film you saw at the cinema. The real first one, not the pretend one you tell people! Mine: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980, Wigan. We were near the front and I can still remember how massive the AT-ATs looked, looming over us out of the snow :) Film, year, where, and whatever stuck with you.
I'm super excited that I just got tickets to see my absolute favorite band, Matchbox Twenty, for the 5th time in 30 years when they come to town in July. I cannot fricking wait.
Sinbad Always
Alt: Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty and Sinbad, dressed in hospital gowns and robes, are excited.

Happy 17th anniversary of the day I severely herniated a disc in my lumbar spine by simply bending over and then standing up. I still use an orthopedic device because of it today.
I just passed page 100 of the first book in Susan Cooper's Dark Is Rising Sequence, which I'm reading to the ten-year-olds. There is something really special about reading older children's fantasy novels, I think. I'm thoroughly enjoying it. #amreading #Booksky
...And I cut off the tip of my thumb while cutting onions and had to wait for the spouse to get home with new Band-Aids after I bled through the only one we had left in the house. So now I am cooking dinner while down a thumb, which is super fun.
The family watched the first episode of Avatar: Seven Havens last night. Gorgeous animation, a really cool soundtrack, and an intriguing story so far. But I will not stand for the sh*tting all over Korra that is occurring.
As I am currently at what I hope is the tail end of another bout of gastroenteritis, the very last thing I want to be doing tonight is chaperoning the Homecoming dance at work. This would hold true even if I wasn't almost not-sick.

Meatloaf is a good safe word. It means I would do anything for love, but I won't do that...
And with that, we've bid farewell to Peter Capaldi's Doctor. After rewatching ten seasons, he's still my favorite. The 10-year-olds are excited for the "lady Doctor" next. #DoctorWho

Over the last two years, I've gained at least 20 lbs due to a number of factors including being a boot for three months. I am pleased to say I've lost at least half of it thanks to diet, exercise, and the soul-crushing stress of being a parent, teacher, and just generally alive in 2026.
Me: I don't think 10.1 has strep, but I'm taking him to the doctor to check because I don't have time to do it later this week. 10.1 has strep. I patted myself on the back for some time-saving intuition--and getting 10.1 antibiotics so he can go to school tomorrow.
For National Coming Out Day, I would like to note that I'm not changing my pronouns, but if someone referred to me as "they/them," I probably wouldn't correct them. In related news, I recently learned what a Demigirl is.
I have a migraine that started yesterday and was possibly amplified by getting my COVID and flu shots last night. I have basically become non-functional in the last hour. 😭
Be kind. Make things with your hands. Something. Anything. Make a fucking sandwich. Read a book. Listen to a record from start to finish. Literally anything at all that puts us closer to tipping the scale back toward humanity. It sounds trite, but what else is there?
Went to the new large local bookstore today to get some gift cards for birthday parties the kids are attending this weekend. I bought myself a book too, obviously. 🙂
I explained to my assistant director my plan to do Antigone on construction pallets with Japanese hand fan choreography. She burst out laughing. Me: It should not surprise you that I know Japanese hand fan choreography. Her: It does not surprise me that you know Japanese hand fan choreography.
Throwback to that time two years ago when I got home at 3 AM after seeing Barry Manilow perform at Radio City Music Hall to find this monstrosity in my front yard.
We're getting close to the end of S10 of #DoctorWho. We watched "World Enough and Time" tonight, and I remember the absolute RAGE I felt when I watched this episode the first time. Justice for Bill Potts. She deserved so much better.
Bruce Coville's My Teacher is an Alien Series. The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier and The Giver by Lois Lowry. Matchbox Twenty's Yourself or Someone Like You album, especially the song "Long Day." The West Side Story soundtrack.
Never mind what TV programme or film "scarred" you as a kid. What spoke to you? What book or song grabbed your soul and meant everything?
Your response is not lame, as mine is also from Sesame Street: Elmo forced Maria to make him pancakes, and one got stuck to the ceiling when she was flipping it and then landed on her face. I remember running out of the room crying I was so scared. I saw it again as an adult. It's still scary.
This is probably going to be the lamest possible response to this prompt, but: I remember an episode of SESAME STREET where a witch cursed Oscar the Grouch so that he had a human nose. This freaked me out so bad I had to go sit on the front porch until my parents came home from work
The 10-year-olds and I are watching the Holes movie for the first time after everyone read the book this summer, and OMG, they got Eartha Kitt to be Madam Zeroni...and she just called someone a schmuck. I love it.
