Getting real sick of slop midwives pleading for a 'respectful discussion' of AI as relates to the arts. Your use of AI to 'make art' is not respectful. It benefits from stolen art, destroys the planet, and does not make you an artist any more than someone driving 26.2 miles is a marathoner.

Bombshell new report out from my investigators this morning spanning our four year investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s financial records. This report shows exactly how Wall Street protected Epstein and enabled his sex trafficking for decades. Mega thread following with some key points:

Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan, BofA Enabled Epstein, Wyden Report Says

Democrat Ron Wyden cited nonpublic documents held by the US Treasury in a report that says banks delayed reporting suspicious financial transactions and calls for tougher anti-money-laundering rules, ...

I don't even know what to say. This is real, this is true, so, like, thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. This took over 25 years to happen so if there's any lesson here it's either "keep at it, who knows" or "many people are divorced"

image of a gold record superimposed on part of Vaughan Oliver's iconic cover for the Mountain Goats' "Tallahassee" album, with a banner beneath it showing the entire album cover, an RIAA seal, and the text: Presented to THE MOUNTAIN GOATS to commemorate the RIAA Gold certification of more than 500,000 copies of the 4AD single "No Children"

A follow-up to the Spokane thread: a little closer to (my) home, the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs are getting close to their fundraising goal, but they're not there yet! The reservation has been affected by two of Oregon's (historically terrible) fires this season:

oh so it's gonna be in the 90s tomorrow? and? the air is already filling with smoke? and an old warehouse burned down on the waterfront yesterday? (note to the news: lmao that part of naito parkway is not "downtown.") everything's great

the least interesting thing about any movie is its box office. please. why has this become a thing that totally normal people talk or care about. stop telling me! it is irrelevant! making money doesn't make something good (or bad!)!!!

not me thinking about how often Lestat uses the blood of Akasha as justification for being how he is (and not wanting to make fledglings) so that he can avoid dealing with the role of his mother in damaging his psyche, phew, everything's fine over here!!!!

More than once in the past two months I have been like ??!?!??? about the music-related commentary around this show—but now my palate is cleansed, my brain is happy, my heart is full, because Emmet knows what the fuck they're talking about and this essay is PERFECT.

Reinventing yourself through rock music is a tradition carried by countless musicians, from David Bowie and Siouxsie Sioux to Prince and Elton John. In Interview With the Vampire, Lestat creates a mythos through his own music: #IWTV

I have deeply mixed feelings about this book, which was quite enjoyable until it hit a point that I found deeply and tiredly cynical. Now that this review is finally done, perhaps I will go read other reviews and see if anyone else felt the same (the blurbs made me feel very alone, lol)

Melissa Albert's adult debut The Children yanks the reader into its creepy farmhouse and shadowed past; @mollytempleton.com observes that your feelings may depend on "whether you are more interested in the making of art, or the hypothetical price of success."

*whispers* you know we can do this cultural debate about art thing all the time, right? Websites and news organizations used to have culture critics on staff whose entire job was writing about books, movies, and TV. People read them and then discussed them. We have the technology to do this again.

how is something a midi dress if it goes all the way to the model's ankles! why is every dress at present a tiny scrap of fabric or a full-length curtain!!!! yes I am shopping for something to wear to a wedding again and no I still don't like dresses
