I was thinking about the Repo Man soundtrack, which I first heard in my freshman dorm (so many people had it!). The two albums that I was introduced to that year that really clicked with me were Repo Man and Carmina Burana (before the rave mix happened). This amuses me.

I will die believing P&P was Much Ado fanfic based on the premise "a woman writer would know that the guy giving off Benedick vibes is more likely to exhibit Don Jon behavior and vice versa."

I maintain that Wichita Lineman is one of the ultimate music geek songs. It’s a song that so many serious musicians admire (while other people make fun of it). R.E.M. covered it; Billy Joel said it’s a perfect song. Is there another song that is so similarly admired and dismissed?

I am curious about the growing interest in "whimsy" right now. Why do you think it's whimsy that people are latching onto (as opposed to joy, fun, or play)? Does whimsy seem more attainable? (I'm not complaining--I'm genuinely curious.)
