Good morning peeps. Catching up with an old friend today, so I won’t be on much, if at all. Have a good one! 🪶

#SummerVisitors, but born in the Netherlands: a juvenile European Bee-eater. Alan’s #BirdOfTheDay. 🪶
Good morning. The #BirdOfTheDay theme is #RedOrDead, any bird with red in the capture but not on the bird or a photo of a bird on bare winter branches. Alt #SummerVisitors Migratory birds associated with summer or your favourite bird to capture in summer. #birds #photography #ECK

The procedure is: catch a bee, bash it until it’s dead or stunned so it can’t sting anymore. Rub the venom out by rubbing it on a bark, then eat it whole. The fledglings forget the rubbing, but as long as they don’t get stung they’re okay. They’ll be pro’s soon. Sorry, bit wobbly. 🪶
Sorry, it’s Bee-eater Day. Just scroll on if you don’t like them. 🪶
A slight misunderstanding in the treetop. The one on the left probably didn’t share. European Bee-eater. 🪶
Fledgling watching the pro. Time to catch meals, fatten up and build up strength for the long trek to Africa. European Bee-eater 🪶 (And I almost didn’t go this morning 😲).
What is better than 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 Bee-eaters? NINE!!! And there were some up in the air as well. I lost count. The last nestlings have fledged. There was still one adult guarding above the nest site, so there might be little ones left, but maybe they fledged after I left. 🪶
I’m going to give Helen a hand for 30 minutes before I go. Then again when I’m back this evening. What a great job AB and Helen are doing btw. For the #BirdOfTheDay alt theme #Speckled I have to go with my garden’s baby Song thrush. #birds #photography #ECK

Good morning all. For today's #BirdOfTheDay theme I've chosen #FabulousWaders Any wading bird that you love! For me it's the Avocet, a calm and graceful beauty wading along the shoreline! 🤍🪶 The Alt. theme is #Speckled any bird with speckled patterns on its plumage. 📷 #birds #photography #ECK
I won’t make it to the next nearly total one, so weather permitting I’m going to sit at the Lower Rhine (1O minutes by 🚲), put up my eclips 😎, try to take some shots with my eclips-filtered phone and enjoy the spectacle. #solareclips

Today's #BirdOfTheDay Alt is #Robins. Scarlet Robin (Petroica bodang campbelli) Narrogin. wa. Australia. March 2019. Red-capped Robin (Petroica goodenovii) York. wa. Australia. March 2019.
When I #Firsts bought my camera last spring, I practiced the #Mosts on this great horned owl family. As I would walk the trail out to the owls' nest, this northern harrier would dive-bomb me in defense of its nesting area. What a privilege to watch and capture. #BirdOfTheDay
For a moment I thought all juveniles had fledged. But there’s at least one more nest to go, as far as I can tell. The parents and helpers will feed them and teach them to how to catch and how to eat their meals safely. By the end of August they will be gone. European Bee-eater 🪶
Ten years ago a one-tusked wild elephant turned up at Ithumba – so disruptive the Keepers nicknamed her 'Crazy One'. Over the years our orphans taught her that the Keepers could be trusted, and today she moves freely between the wild and Ithumba. Last year, she brought a newborn of her own.
I had to dig until 2019 to find a #Firsts for AB’s #BirdOfTheDay. Should have guessed it would be a picture of dear Zorro and his parttime mate in his kingdom. It’s a picture that’s very close to my heart since Zorro is no longer with us. 😢 🪶
Good morning All. I thought that as today is my first day, the #BirdOfTheDay theme should be: #Firsts some of your earliest bird captures. Alt. is my most captured; #Robins - Male Reed Bunting, shot in my 1st fortnight of having a camera - The ubiquitous European Robin #birds #photography #ECK
