Stop by and check out the brine shrimp tank at the Mono Lake Committee! 🥽 An estimated 4-12 trillion brine shrimp inhabit the lake during the warmer summer months and are an essential food source for migratory birds. Ask a bookstore assistant about naming a brine shrimp!
More than 300 species of birds have been observed in the Mono Basin's varied habitats, from the highest elevations at the Sierra crest all the way down to Mono Lake. These great photos show four species at the lakeshore: Green-tailed Towhee, Violet-green Swallow, Osprey, and California Gull.

Yesterday, the UCLA Center for Climate Science presented its new report to the State Water Board. One key takeaway: LADWP water diversions are the primary cause of today’s dangerously low level of #MonoLake. Another: Reducing those diversions will boost lake rise, even in the era of climate change.
