you may have noticed that animation has never been more in-demand & in the zeitgeist and yet, seemingly, never have media conglomerates been less willing to produce it. you may also notice these guys get multimillion dollar severance packages after they gut a studio. there is probably no connection
Henry Gilbert (Beloved Podcast Personality)@talkinghenry.bsky.social · 7d agoSkydance now owns Nick, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Comedy Central, and MTV, effectively ending US TV animation as we know it. Countless jobs will be lost, and fewer new shows will be created. An apocalyptic scenario for cartoons, yet it's maybe the 5th-worst thing about the Paramount-WB merger!
Happy Dolly Parton Day to all who celebrate 💅 Celebrating all Dolly has done to advance public health and welfare is #1 in our book. Without her, the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine might not have happened. Dolly’s Imagination Library gets an honorable mention as well 📚 How are you celebrating Dolly?
I have no idea where the last 10 years went, but I’m happy I got to spend them with you @meatierologist.bsky.social *ruves*

Cis people do not understand how much trans people's rights have regressed in just 5 years. 5 years ago, there were none of these restrictions. 19 states banned legal recognition 21 states have bathroom bans 8 states ban gender marker changes on DLs 25 ban gender affirming care for trans youth
I always thought the figure was screaming, but they are blocking out the screams of the world. This perspective has strangely brought me hope though because sometimes resilience isn’t fixing the world. It’s protecting enough of yourself to keep standing in it. Keep standing friends. Good night.
Apparently people are sharing this far and wide on social media, which I think is horrible. This could cripple ICE operations. PLEASE do not share this.
NEW: Top USPS officials expressed concerns that new mail voting rules could delay or block ballots from reaching large swaths of eligible voters for the upcoming midterms, but the rules moved forward anyway, ProPublica has learned.
New Mail Voting Rules Moved Forward Despite USPS Officials’ Concerns About Mass Disenfranchisement

For those who might have forgotten, Dolly was always punk as fuck
One way you know Dolly Parton lived life the right way: I don’t think anyone’s going to get fired for accurately quoting Dolly Parton today.
Short morning hike before it gets unbearable outside
This is a very impressive documentary about the massive waste of ICE flights, produced by a local news team from Seattle. Sucks that more people haven't seen it.

This administration is doing some much damage to already hollowed out science programs that it will take a generation to fix (if we even get that chance)

Reminder that we published an extensive interview with a former editor at The New York Times who laid out, in detail, how the paper's pushing of anti-trans bigotry was both very intentional and directed from the very top of the organization. The NYT plays a direct and major role in trans genocide:
