There's good reason @transnews.network is worker-run, and prioritizes otg trans people/communities over establishment figures and pr. There is a need for solid info (not panicslop), in-depth investigations and platforms for trans voices that reflect our actual lives, not a handful of gentry.

I've worked in journalism for a long, long time. Trans people's skepticism about and hostility to the field is beyond merited. Honestly, I share a lot of it. I think there's a role for trans journalists when we draw upon, and learn from, the radical tradition. The example is Ida Wells, not the NYT
Trevor Project's CEO making 400-700k a year makes a lot more sense once you realize they're actually secretly an investment fund on the side
at a glance over their financials, this is probably why they pivoted so anti-union in the 2021-2022 fiscal year they have a board designated operating reserve of $33.84M. their net assets, however, went some $16M over this. instead of... paying people, they blew it on mutual funds/stonks
This is honestly maddening, each week the news on this front is progressives posting "oh! The pope quoted Tolkien!" memes while the Catholic Church itself is like "our legal arm just made it even easier to torture queer and trans kids."
"The Michigan case was filed on behalf of Catholic Charities of Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale Counties..." But please, keep gushing about how progressive the papacy is. I'm sure the Catholic Church is thankful for the p.r. while they keep attacking every last one of our rights.
This, of course, follows the draconian trans healthcare ban the Catholic Church imposed across its massive network of hospitals, doctors' practices and insurers, which is the most sweeping ban in the country.

As much as radicals get criticized for being "unrealistic," demanding entire demographics facing literal genocide always maintain mild rhetoric and actions is an absolutely delusional level of conformity to expect. I don't think that gets said enough.

Reminder that we published an extensive interview with a former editor at The New York Times who laid out, in detail, how the paper's pushing of anti-trans bigotry was both very intentional and directed from the very top of the organization. The NYT plays a direct and major role in trans genocide:

am i allowed to talk about how weird it is that the main way liberals philantropize trans people is by donating money to liberal nonprofits for call centers that beg us not to kill ourselves, instead of directly funding our material needs which, when deprived, lead to suicidality? is that allowed?
Sorry i meant to say we need more celebrities to donate $100 million to suicide hotlines so we can call someone who will beg us not to kill ourselves when the state takes away our medication and housing, and then send the cops to our home if we say the wrong series of words. My bad.

it's always morally justified to bully people into not funding the active extermination of your people: BDS, Harry Potter, NYT, etc and boycotting isn't virtuous, it's the bare minimum. I know so many trans people sacrificing so help others and you can't even find a different fucking puzzle game?
In other words, NYT is increasingly becoming a gaming and recipe company, with revenue from that business helping subsidize the higher costs of their journalism (which has been weaponized in favor of trans genocide). They depend on liberals not caring enough to boycott them.
I have looked through the NYT's financial statements and people should know that the NYT's profits have gone up significantly since 2022, not because of news-only subscription revenue, but because of revenue driven by puzzle and recipe subscriptions, alone or bundled with news.
This may be true of others but I actually got express permission from the trans community to keep NYT games and recipes. I also have a news subscription, which is arguably worse, so I had to specifically send in a written request. Took 30 days but I got approved.
JK Rowling funding her trans exterminationist campaigns by selling children's books to liberals 🤝 the NYT funding their trans exterminationist campaigns by selling puzzle games and recipes to liberals (and also for both, cis people will get really upset at trans people asking them not to)

Thread, on one of my favorite pieces TNN's ever published and the need for reminders of trans power and resilience especially given the realities of what we're up against.
Along with our first anniversary fundraiser we're highlighting some pieces TNN's published in our first year. Today it's one of the most powerful we've ever published, @mady.cat's On Surviving Trans Genocide, about our communities' strength and resilience in spite of the odds.
