We've been warning about the trans gentry not just because they, as a group, don't care about most trans people but actively despise us for existing in ways (wrong places, too queer, too radical, too angry) that inhibit their career. It's a recipe for betrayal to fascism.

Real question: what are trans people in "very different districts" where McBride considers our rights inconvenient to the Democratic Party supposed to do? Stay silent forever? "Just move?" The South has the largest number of queer and trans folks, hands down. These are our homes, our communities.

As I said in the first reply, this is not a cause for despair, just a reminder that our enemies are our enemies and to be prepared to fight them accordingly. Political elites, in both parties, are openly transphobic and getting moreso. That's what we're up against.

Trans folks, especially those of us who organize, it's worth being prepared for the following: if transphobic Dems lose, the consultant class will try to scapegoat us (again). If they win (due to Republicans being wildly unpopular) they'll take it as a mandate and escalate to more anti-trans laws.

Folks, this is a reminder that boycotting the NYT includes refusing to hate-share articles of theirs where they platform bad takes from transphobic politicians. Even clicking gift links gives them revenue. You do not need to angrily share their bs. In fact, it is actively *harmful* to do so.

This goes triple for any trans person excusing those "compromises" to our very lives. To paraphrase Douglass: the general sentiment of humanity is that those who will not fight for themselves are not worth being fought for by others, and this sentiment is just.

Whenever attempts to hyper-stratify queer identities comes up it's pretty inevitably gentry trying to gatekeep, weird drama or literal grifters trying to start shit for clicks. All worth rejecting, especially if you're trans. Narrowly defined queer communities are always to our detriment.

Those in MAHA didn't turn towards a eugenics cult, and that cult didn't start gutting public health, because they were oppresssd. They did so because gentry scum are exceptionally prone to delusion and lost their shit at the reality of disease, disability and that some of their kids might be trans

The NYT also makes money from clicks, so limiting the spread of their articles and columns — even to dunk on them, even if it's the rare piece that isn't horrific — helps curb their influence and cashflow. When they do need to be condemned, use a screenshot like you would with any hate site.

boycotts aren't a particularly radical form of protest, but many people are unaware just how reticent many queer liberal organizations or figures are to participate even in that minimal level of action. like damn people really are still sharing NYT gift links on main without any shame lol
