if communism is a horizon of possibility, the real movement that abolishes the present state of things, then while a political party can be communist, a government cannot

oh, interesting... apparently one of the Moda Center stooges is on camera saying he knew we were outside counter-protesting and our ejection from the game was related to this fact? this just gets cooler and cooler

these tickets may have been 300 level, but they weren't that cheap and we just got kicked out rather than make my friend take off a shirt (for which she had no replacement) because some bored, shitty Indiana fans are mad about it fuck the Moda Center, man

so, the stooges came back and asked my friend to leave her seat and tried to convince her that she had to change her shirt... we are currently being effectively escorted out of a building that is currently asking for untold millions of our tax dollars

solar and wind are safe and cheaper than fossil fuels, and their deployment has not yet stopped the continued growth of fossil fuel use. but a technology that is more expensive than fossil fuels, potentially very dangerous and has an unsolved waste problem would have replaced fossil fuels by now

Have to address this: Shapiro investigated the #EllenGreenberg case while AG & ruled it a suicide. 3 of the stab wounds were fatal. She can’t keep “stabbing herself” after she’s dead. He was buddies with her bf’s uncle, who stole her cell phone & laptop from the scene. Shapiro covered up her murder.

The coolest thing about LeBron coming to Philly is that Gov Shapiro once classified the death of 27-yr old Philadelphia teacher, Ellen Greenberg, as a suicide despite 20 stab wounds in this pattern:

The very presence of these soldiers and settlers is illegal according to international law, see both the International Court of Justice's ruling from July 2024 that deemed Israel's occupation illegal & the UNSCR deeming settlements illegal, therefore it is legal to use force to repel their presence.

Killing an illegally-present, occupying soldier is verbatim the most legal thing a person is allowed to do under every single international law.

Today's deadly clash in the West Bank began when about 30 settlers, including armed men and minors, entered Tell, a Palestinian village that Israelis are not allowed to enter, using a "hike" as cover. They did not coordinate with the IDF, even though it is required. The incident ended in a gunfight that killed two Israelis and four Palestinians, and the IDF sent five more companies to the area to contain the situation the settlers had started.

None of this excuses the Palestinian who seized a weapon and killed an Israeli officer. That is a crime in its own right, and two Israeli families are grieving tonight. But it does not change how the events began, or who set them in motion.

the underlying fact that rarely gets highlighted in the recurring arguments about economic indicators/sentiment (especially by the 'chart guys' but also their critics) is that the numbers being talked about are abstract representations of certain aspects of a *social relation*

the ICC may not technically be a subsidiary of the United Nations, but the Rome Statute was very much a product of UN processes. if you have an ICC warrant and show up at the United Nations, you should be arrested and sent to the Hague 100% of the time

The Odyssey is an epic loved by people who overused epic as an adjective in the 2010s, and despised by people who are still overusing epic as an adjective now
