I'm a day late but yesterday was the 20th anniversary of Supernatural so here's the reference to it I snuck into my book.
Mo Netz

MG and YA author. They took the boy out of the trailer park and now there's a trailer park rolling through NYC. Frightens children.
As a Millennial back in school, I can say with certainty that the part of my brain that cannot remember probability equation formulas is the part that still remembers every word to the Hymn of the Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen from Ren & Stimpy.
A lot of times I drive for ten miles with the emergency brake on. That doesn't say a lot for me, but it really doesn't say a lot for the "emergency brake". It's really not an emergency brake, it's an emergency "make the car smell funny lever".
Everyone has one Mitch Hedberg joke stashed in their brain like a squirrel to sustain them whenever they need to feel joy for 30 seconds and mine is “they say the recipe for Sprite is Lemon and Lime but I tried to make it at home, there’s more to it than that”
Moments from the field with Justin Robinson… This tune is “Ryestraw” from our new album “What Did the Blackbird Say to the Crow.” Listen now: giddensrobinson.lnk.to/BlackbirdCrow
I've said this before but I'll say it again If your reading recommendations (especially if you are an industry professional of some kind) include no works by Black authors Then I urge you to *seek out and read* more work by Black authors
You discover an orange cat. Orange cat has babies, some orange. They grow up, have babies. Cycle continues. Wow, there's a lot of orange cats! Congrats, you just figured out why there's more Autistics than 50 yrs ago. Genetics, & being able to discover more orange cats- I mean diagnose Autistics.
I was selected in the second grade to represent my school at the regional "Young Writers' Conference." My entry was a blatant self-insert ghost story with me as the ghost.
Tell me an 'on brand' memory of your childhood. (I named every fish in our 50 gallon tank after Mythological Greek gods).
Me: I am technically "Updates Only" on The Other Place, I should go over there and at least update... The Other Place: Jews have non-human DNA! Me: *closes door quietly*
Almost forgot to wish a happy birthday to my book baby! They grow up so fast...
Probably Alison Bechdel, in a now-defunct LGBTQ+ bookstore in Atlanta called Outwrite when she was on the Fun Home tour. There were promotional postcards and she drew a picture of me on the back of one.
11. Who is the most famous person you have ever met?
I've been cagey about this since I look young and in this youth-obsessed industry hoped I could pass for one of the cool-kid rising stars instead of someone who'd been at it for decades before I broke through. But isn't that kind of the point of this? So... 42.
Authors, repost this with the age you published your first novel. I’m trying to see something.
Heartbroken for Dolly. Her love for Carl, and his for her, is something we should all wish for.
I don’t like how ppl within our own country get pissy about the word y’all. It’s you + all. It follows all the rules of a proper contraction. But let’s get to the base of it. It’s rooted in the south so you think it’s wrong bc you think southerners are stupid.
When we searched Trump's executive orders & agencies for a clear definition of "DEI," there wasn't one. But after we looked at what's being targeted by MAGA resegregationists, the definition was clear: DEI is their term for "something that doesn't help white people.."
An Incomplete List of Things Donald Trump Considers to be 'DEI'
According to the MAGA resegregationists in the Trump Administration, anything Black is now considered "DEI."

It's #InternationalWheelchairDay and the perfect day to promote my book where a young wheelchair user fights literal and metaphorical demons to save her family, her town, and the day. www.harpercollins.com/products/the...

In this debut spooky adventure, Jerry and her trusty wheelchair move into a creepy motel at the edge of the woods where nothing is as it seems. When her mom...

Challenged myself to pick one with zero Muppets in it and it's gotta be this one (older than me, introduced to me by my dad)

I’m burnt out tonight from worrying about politics and such. Need a break, so let’s try this. What’s the “best” (or perhaps just your favourite) movie from at least 10 years ago, that you could watch over and over. Bonus points if you include a clip or gif from it reminding us why it’s so good.
Ye brynge to mynde the babe. What babe? That babe wyth the knowlech. What knowlech? The knowlech of sorcerye. Sorcerye? Assuredlye! Assuredlye what? Brynge to mynde the babe. #Labyrinth #Bowie
I still smell the carpet from lying on my stomach between the stacks so the nobody would find me and steer me back to the kids' section
*frantically smashing answer buzzer* what is, the adult fiction section of your hometown public library when you're 12-14 years old
It just clicked. "Trans women (or men putting on dresses and pretending to be trans women) and assaulting kids in bathrooms" is this generation's razorblades in apples/Satanic cults abusing kids as ritual sacrifice/every boogeyman we come to look back on and wonder how so many people believed.
There's so much to say about that awful anti-trans White House page but the way they put Professional Loser Riley Gaines on there... Girl. They could ban every trans woman and she still couldn't win the prize out of a Cracker Jack box.
Necromancy without consent, breaking and entering into a church/funeral home, stealing from the dead (does it count as grave robbery if they haven't been buried yet?), [REDACTED] #WritingPrompt
We're cancelling characters today. What do your MC(s) do that makes them problematic? #WritingPrompt
And yes! Some of those people live in RED STATES but they are children or disabled or elderly or don't want to leave their homes and voted for Harris and are suffering now anyway so maybe blanket statements that "they deserve it" aren't accurate
people are like "i don't have any compassion for trump voters" who cares?? you don't have to! have compassion for all the OTHER people on medicaid, who need affordable diabetes meds, or who rely on food stamps, or require disaster assistance, or work on a farm, etc, etc, etc
I always see those threads that are like "what's your benign opinion you get REALLY passionately opinionated about?" And I finally found mine! (Answer below)
Call this what it is. Every order by this sham government to "remove racial bias" is an order to institute bias in favor of white people.
Right, because doing this to any one group is sacrificing your humanity, but also, where does it end? If you are willing to throw one marginalized group under the bus "to protect everyone else," what happens when the fascists come back and ask you to sacrifice another group? And another?
“We had to erase trans people or we couldn’t get our federal funding” Fuck the federal funding. You fight, you sue, you do not become complicit in our mass erasure. We are all in this together, and we all go down together. I will not allow us to be jettisoned or erased.
