Pope Leo this week called universal health coverage a "moral imperative." He also said: “Health cannot be a luxury for the few,” it is “an essential condition for social peace.”
I do not think the takeaway here is that Americas don't trust their neighbors. This question is clearly more about the politics of the country. If Americans had answered the way Canada did, you could call them oblivious or say they don't care about injustice
