Happy to share our horizon scan of European wild pollinators is out! We identified 10 priority issues for 10yrs, including, for the 1st time, legislation as an opportunity (NRR). However, political shifts may slow progress, while new pesticide tech presents opportunities. doi.org/10.1038/s415...

🐝 New paper! Do infected honey bees smell different from healthy ones? We found that infection by the gut parasite Vairimorpha spp. changes the volatile compounds emitted by adult honey bees - the first evidence that infected adults develop distinct volatile profiles. doi.org/10.1002/ece3...

Hive mind: I'm on the hunt for any practitioner reports, policy docs, restoration frameworks, or applied conservation reports that explicitly use plant–pollinator interactions or ecological networks in practical conservation/restoration/rewilding? (Not scientific research) 🐝🌻

Hive mind request. I’m looking for long term insect (ideally pollinator) monitoring schemes that have conducted weekly/monthly transects/counts for several years. I know of the Bee walks, UKMS, and PoMs in the UK. I would love some non-UK examples! 🐝🦋🐝🦋🐝🦋

If youre looking for a conference this summer, join us at the IUSSI international Congress in Freiburg. If you need somewhere to submit an abstract, some wonderful colleagues and I are hosting a symposium on Conserving Wild Social Insects. Take a look at the brief! iussi2026.org/scientific-s...
