Hooman paid the rates (property taxes) on our house today. He then set up a weekly auto-transfer so that we know it's covered. He's relieved that he finally knows how this works in NZ.

Here’s a zoomed-in shot of the summit and Columbia crest glacier. Note how carved the mountain is by erosion. It’s been about 2,000yrs since the mountain has seen a voluminous eruptive period, so erosion has outpaced the mountain’s building.
Our flight from Seattle to Sacramento was delayed by a few hours last night, but we were rewarded with an epic sunset on Tahoma (Rainier) as it poked through the low stratus layer. The pastel peach backdrop was made possible by the horrific wildfire smoke from all the PNW fires.
