🧵on my new paper "Synthetic personas distort the structure of human belief systems" w Roberto Cerina I'm v excited about... 🚨 Do synthetic samples look like human samples? We compare 28 LLMs to the 2024 General Social Survey (GSS) to find out + develop host of diagnostics...

Seems to be a common situation for ACs this round, but I'm also looking for two emergency reviewers for the January #ARR Evaluation and Resources track. I'd appreciate any help (reposts, encouragement, black magic...)

🚨 New main paper out at #EMNLP2025! 🚨 ⚡ We show that personalization of content moderation models can be harmful and perpetuate hate speech, defeating the purpose of the system and hurting the community. We argue that personalized moderation needs boundaries, and we show how to build them.

There’s plenty of evidence for political bias in LLMs, but very few evals reflect realistic LLM use cases — which is where bias actually matters. IssueBench, our attempt to fix this, is accepted at TACL, and I will be at #EMNLP2025 next week to talk about it! New results 🧵

Are LLMs biased when they write about political issues? We just released IssueBench – the largest, most realistic benchmark of its kind – to answer this question more robustly than ever before. Long 🧵with spicy results 👇

I have two fully funded PhD positions in my group. If you want to work on persona based dialogical models or using LLMs to fight online harms then consider applying!
