I’m so chuft to have written this week’s River City eps, airing today and Wed on BBC Scotland. Writing a double episode for the first time was a gorgeous experience, and it’s been a joy to keep developing as a writer on the show. I absolutely love it ❤️

And the Hugo Berge fund, 400+ applicants for grants of £5K– 5 will be successful. Unsustainable odds, and the over-subscription is more evidence of the crisis. There is almost no trickle down, with the important exception of supporting work from other cultures.

“Individual artists don’t wear ‘closed’ signs”. I think that @alecfinlay.bsky.social is starting a really important conversation in the below about the current lack of freelance work. Opportunity is scarcer than ever, and every freelancer I’ve spoken to is feeling the pressure of “what next?”.

Today is the anniversary of my dad Donnie being lost at sea. I was only five so it was a long time ago, but it’s still always a difficult one. Another year gone, but never forgotten. Here’s to you, dad 🥃
