PSA: the online search function for @barnesandnoble.com is flat-out broken right now and won't return any results. even if, per this example, you type in a title it's actively advertising on the homepage, nothing comes up. I've tried multiple browsers only to get the same issue.

At this point you can safely assume that any fest offering “feedback” on a script is using an LLM. Even pre-2023, i wouldn’t have trusted them because, honest Q, who da fuq are they anyway? Some guy who likes movies? Touch grass, make some friends with other filmmakers and get their feedback instead

The current stuff on this list all shares an engagement pattern: the same posts, shared at the exact same time, reshared and liked by the same set of about 25-28 accounts. Their "festivals" mostly accept ANY submission (for a few), offering services like "turn your poem/novel into a movie"...

The Unicorn says, somewhat defensively, "But I'm here now...?" But Molly Grue has shit she needs to say! "Where were you 20 years ago?! 10 years ago?! When I was new! When I was one of those innocent maidens you used to come to. How dare you? How dare you come to me now! When I am THIS!" Even schmendrick the schmuck is realizing that something important is happening here. He asks; "Can you really see her? Do you know what she is?" She says simply "If you had been waiting to see a unicorn as long as I have..." He responds "She is the last." "It would be the last unicorn in the world who came to Molly Grue. There, there...I forgive you...." Molly presses her forehead against the unicorn's. SIDEBAR: this is significant, because this is the first time unicorn has willingly allowed anyone to touch her. Until she meets Prince Lir she refuses to accept any human touch, except for Molly's. SECOND SIDEBAR!: I can't help but read this scene as a metaphor for my own experience of my vagina following bottom surgery! The vagina, in this case, is the Unicorn, and I am Molly.

The romance in my "cozy T4T eggfic wish fulfillment" novel revolves around a character doing something that I'd feel too morally compromised to do if I were in her situation: dating the egg she just cracked. Is the yuri in it toxic enough to escape this trap? You'll have to read it to find out! 😈

darling of dots feb 24 been stewing on an analytical approach to fiction which call "is this book afraid of me?" and in order to answer this question you determine how hard the book is trying to make sure you don't come after the writer on twitter the fucked-up part is that specifically notice this in like, BIPOC or queer romances because their authors a) are more likely to be harassed online b) tend to care about writing inclusive and intersectional books more, both of which are totally valid reasons, but unfortunately a book that is scared to be misunderstood is also scared to challenge the reader or allow for too much nuance or grey areas or character flaws and am sorry to say that it often makes for less compelling stories because it means shying away from ambiguities and complexities in an effort to reassure me, the reader, that everyone here is a Good Person engaging in Healthy Behaviours and Relationships

I'm not nearly as skilled at wheel throwing, sculpture, & pottery as my wife. But I made these two pieces that I just got back from the kiln today & I'm really proud of them! The Ramen bowl is probably the most difficult form I've thrown & the wonky vase works surprisingly well for pens & brushes!

Shopify CEO Tobi Lutke says “good system.” In response to the following proposal: “Interesting... what about weighted voting proportional to the level of income tax you pay? (no income tax paid - O vote, $1-100k - 1 vote, $100-200k 2 votes and so on... cap it at 5 votes for $500k+. For those that constantly complain about the wealthy not paying tax/fair share they'd have nothing to worry about right? Why not reward representation of taxation and build a democracy around those that foot the bill?”
