I went to my first ever MOTHING PARTY last night and I am still smiling. Happy #NationalMothWeek!!!

Molly BEAMING at seeing a hydrangea sphinx moth. Her face is close to the moth, which is as big as her nose and mottled green and grey and brown. The moth is perched on a white sheet that is being illuminated by a blacklight.

Sometimes micro-moths like this Callima (likely) argenticinctella are absolutely stunning little animals. People often walk right past thinking they're just tiny moths, but under magnification you realize you've missed out on something truly beautiful. #entomology #bugsky #Invert 🌿

A close-up macro photograph of a small moth, Callima argenticinctella, resting on a white fabric surface. Its wings are bright orange with intricate, curved silver-white bands bordered by dark brown accents. The wing tips are fringed with delicate hair-like scales. Its antennae and legs have distinct brown and white striping, adding to its intricate appearance.

In honor of #NationalMothWeek I will be posting #moths. We start with the amazingly beautiful Hieroglyphic Moth, Diphtera festiva, which I have only seen once.

A photo of a yellow, iridescent blue, black and shimmery gold moth sitting on my finger from above. The moth's wings are spread, the head is black. The forebody is yellow with dark blue iridescent stripes The forewings are yellow with the dark blue iridescent stripes on the front part, the rear part of the forewings are yellow with three rows of tiny iridescent blue spots. The hind wings are black with a bright golden sheen to them.

It’s Moth Face Friday! This is a Spilosoma, but it’s hard to say which species it could be. What’s not hard to say is how cute it is. #MothFaceFriday #MothFace #Spilosoma #TeamMoth
