It’s Moth Face Friday! This is a Spilosoma, but it’s hard to say which species it could be. What’s not hard to say is how cute it is. #MothFaceFriday #MothFace #Spilosoma #TeamMoth
It’s Moth Face Friday! Here’s a Euchlaena I photographed last week, maybe Euchlaena deplanaria. #MothFace #MothFaceFriday #TeamMoth #MothsMatter #MothsOfOklahoma
Moth Face Friday! This Zale moth showed up to my porch light over the last week. I also held the first public moth night of the year this week and found quite a few photogenic individuals, so I’m excited to share those soon. #MothFaceFriday #MothFace #Zale #MothsOfOklahoma #TeamMoth #MothsMatter
Here’s my second installment of “if moths were rugs”. Tap on each image to see the full version. Would you want one of these rugs in your house? Which pattern would you choose. Photo of the actual moth in the comments.

Things are horrible in the US right now. If you have a way of advocating for change, for justice, for compassion, for common decency - do it. I’m feeling very powerless, but let’s do the best with what we have, for the time that we have. #MothFaceFriday #MothsOfOklahoma #TeamMoth #MothsMatter
Moth Face Friday! I’m ready for winter to be over and moth season to begin. Who’s with me? #MothFaceFriday #MothFace #MothsOfOklahoma #TeamMoth #MothsMatter
Did someone say #SuperbOwl Sunday? Short Eared Owl, Asio flammeus. #sciart #nature #bird #wildlife #owl #photography #wildlifephotography #ornithology #biology
A few months ago I realized that the intricate patterns on some moth wings would make really good floor rugs. I took a rectangular sample from a common, albeit beautiful moth, and created 4 different options. I give you the Moonseed Rug! Which is your favorite? (Namesake moth in the comments.)
I haven’t felt like posting anything lately. I’m angry with what is happening in our country and feeling powerless to do anything about it. Anyway, this is an escape from the news and a reminder of the beautiful natural world around us. #SpottedSandpiper #BirdsOfOklahoma
The votes are in, the people have spoken. Without further ado, I give you the 2025 Sexiest Moth Alive! There are more than 70,000 species of Lepidoptera in the world but only one could be crowned this year’s sexiest. That moth is the Painted Tiger Moth (Arachnis picta). #SexiestMothAlive
Hey everyone! I’m a general naturalist and moth fanatic. Here’s a Luna Moth (Actias luna) that I photographed last spring. #MothsOfOklahoma #TeamMoth
