My desktop machine has some sort of electrical feedback that manifests as a low rumble from the speakers every 2 seconds or so. This would be annoying except that it's the perfect pitch and period to sound like a purring cat.
The upside of severe corrosion on the outside of your copper pipes is that it is a very beautiful color.
My desktop is recent enough that it probably has whatever doohickey they require to update to Windows 11 if I mess around in the bios, but the days when I enjoyed doing things of that nature ended when I was maybe 16. Windows has to earn its place on my machine now instead of assuming it.

So having just logged back into this site after a hiatus my immediate observation is that it kicks ass now. The dumb infighting seems to have mostly shaken out and now it's funny, has actual information on it, etc.
Disney did lose their magic though. Their magic was two guys named Howard Ashman and Alan Menkin. In 1991 Ashman died of AIDS.

I wonder if I just dislike David Foster Wallace's writing in general. I keep being unimpressed with particular instances and not generalizing.
Ray Bradbury was my favorite as a kid, so I tried to introduce him to my kids. They now use his name as a synonym for "A pointless dark story with a sad ending."

I hit 20 years at Google last week. I was trying to think of something to write about it and came up with a pithy summary for my whole time here, "A red queen race to figure out what's real."
There's some synchrony between the way that predictive text completion became a critical part of UX on mobile devices because input is so painful, and the way LLMs do that for a large amount of work. The ideal agent interface would be designed primarily for your phone.

I admire how committed Chris Thile is to the final product over his own contribution to it. He is an incredibly virtuosic mandolinist, but if he decides that the song needs a snare drum, he will dead strum that mandolin as the rhythm section for the whole song.
There is incredible consistency in the way that people will reject that each of climate change, fertility rates, and AI risk, are real problems just because they find the advocates and their proposals to be gross.
So the plan is, everybody gets the bottom two, nobody gets the top two, and the middle is up to us I guess.
