Swann in Love is the best part of the first volume in its evocation of destructive love and the inevitable ending of that love forming into disdain and entitlement. Highly recommend.

Watched Blow Out (1981) in a theater last night. Sonically disquieting at times which I loved, but I also find it De Palma's most fascinating take on how society views women, especially sex workers, and to make a film that has us emphasize with them is radical in the 80s when Reagan was just elected
As someone who is now cycling up to 4 times a week this is what its like to open up the shed to take out your bike for a morning ride. Giggle included.

by my count there are only 23 films directed or co-directed by women on this list. It just makes me so dispirited that user based lists almost always have this bias for a myriad of reasons.
