The Seattle City Council just voted 6-3 to approve Joy Hollingsworth's amendment to delay universal school lunches for kids, replacing them with vouchers for qualifying low-income parents to buy groceries over school breaks and weekends. Eddie Lin, Alexis Mercedes Rinck, and Rob Saka voted no.

So I am posting this so very late, but in 2024, I got to be part of the Seasons of Hieron zine "A Chaotic Cataloguing", and I'm still so very proud to have been part of such a cool project. Here's my piece "Turbulent Beginnings". #friendsatthetable

this sucks. nashville zoo is one of the most modern, humane, and accessible zoos in the country. if you care about conservation, critters, and science, go sign and go raise hell. nash zoo is also a bastion of science and equality as a southern workplace. please please protect it.

A proposed 69,000-square-foot data center is planned for property directly adjacent to the Zoo. While developers claim the facility will have no impact, no environmental studies or impact assessments have been conducted to evaluate potential effects on our animals, visitors, staff, or the surrounding community. Data centers consume enormous amounts of electricity and water; straining power grids, depleting natural resources, and damaging our watershed. With nothing more than the word of a profit-seeking developer, how are we to know this new data center will not lead to irreversible damage to the animals we exist to protect? We cannot afford to find out years from now how this facility has negatively impacted our 1.4 million annual visitors, our local community, or the 3,000 animals entrusting us with their care. We are calling on the Nashville community to join us in our fight to stop this data center from being built, now. One thing i learned in ireland, and have since asked other americans if they ever heard about (no), is famine walls. During the man-made famine, the british gov paid ppl a penny a day to build rock walls. The walls did nothing and served no purpose. They just didnt want to feed people for "nothing"

Work requirements do not work. Work requirements have never worked. Work requirements will never work. And the people making these decisions know this because work requirements for essential care funding meets their goal of further restricting access while enriching only themselves.

This is unbelievable. The AI boom is now piggybacking on green colonialism, eating up any contribution to emissions reduction while causing harm to Indigenous communities. The Yakama Tribe has been fighting this pumped storage project for years, only to learn it would primarily power…a data center.

Puget Sound Energy filed an interconnection request with BPA for a 958 MW data center at what appears to be the Goldendale site. If built, the data center could require ~80% of the 1,200 MW of energy the Goldendale pumped storage project could generate. oregoncapitalchronicle.com/2026/05/25/g...
