Maybe we should stop raising kids to obey authority unquestioningly and then act surprised when adults join cults.

The American political system has this adorable little tradition where one side brings a flamethrower to the house, the other side says “we should probably discuss the temperature,” & then everyone acts shocked when the curtains catch fire.

Actually one of the cruelest things about recovering from cognitive trauma is realizing how many people preferred you confused. Some folks love “kindness” right up until it comes with boundaries, clarity, and the ability to say “wait, that doesn’t sound right.”

I've always found it interesting how quickly people become experts on what a struggling mother should have done differently. Less curiosity about the person who helped create the struggle.

I’m not interested in building communities that only feel safe for the already comfortable. If that costs me popularity with people who need enemies to feel important, so be it.

Nobody wakes up and says, "I'd love to build my life around this substance." They usually say, "I need this pain to stop for five damn minutes."
