For instance: abolitionists weren't actually trying to change the minds of the plantation owners. They would never succeed. There was too strong a financial incentive. They were trying to change the minds of the people who thought they could sit out on the sidelines.
Lift the burden where you are able, so that we can make it a little lighter for the next generation who will be tasked with it.

We're gonna hold your hand when we say this: Taxing rich people like us more does not make us poor, or unable to keep investing in our businesses, or create jobs. That's a scare tactic used to keep taxes on the super-rich low and pass along the costs to working people.
The real risk was never communism. Or even fascism. Or kings. The greatest risk has ALWAYS been concentration of power in the hands of an authoritarian. They have called themselves by every possible name for an ideology, but what has mattered to them has always been control. To OUR detriment.

Denny Carter@dennycarter.bsky.social · 3mo agoNew York Giants players, including linebacker Abdul Carter, (rightfully) seem pissed about Jaxson Dart palling around with the president. It’s the kind of thing a player should think about before backing an overtly white supremacist politician.
We are not facing a government of laws and due process. We are facing authoritarian bullies who do as they please.
