This is it. Last day of school. I've taught here for 18 years and today is the last day it will exist in its current form. Two days of packing up all the things that go with being an upper elementary school and next week it begins its next chapter as an early learning center. It's been a great run.

Back to packing today. I have to keep reminding myself that so far, 1/2 of my boxes are writing supplies for next year's 6th grade team. Mostly trying not to panic abt the fact I'm sharing a classroom with 8 other people and all of our programs come w/lots of resources that need to fit in that room.

It’s Friday. 6 pm. Memorial Day weekend. I am packing up my office. I have way too many things. To be fair, most of them are books. Anyway, mostly cleaned out my desk. Here’s what’s left until we’re done next Friday. I might have a problem. I also need to get that fall PD proposal done. 😭🙄😬

I have many tabs open. More than I'd like to admit. Many of them are spreadsheets bc I'm a dork like that. I HATE the new little tab icons in Chrome. I'm a teacher in May, who has to pack up my entire life to move to a new building, do I have other things to worry about? I do, but here we are.

You know what bothers me? Kids who won't ask questions because somehow they think they're bothering me. Answering questions is my whole literal job. Sometimes the answer is "What do the directions say?" Sometimes the answer is, "Hey, that's a really cool question, what do you think?"

Snuck out of my current school to visit the elementary school I worked at until 2023 so I could watch the kids I met in second grade walk through the halls in their caps and gowns to the cheers of the current elementary kids. It was mighty dusty in that building this afternoon.

I'm a hall monitor during state testing today. I'm about to start making materials for next year's ELA team. Am I spending a lot of time trying to decide what my font will be? Yes. Nothing fancy, just not boring.

There is no tired like May teacher tired, especially when people keep asking you for information that is/has been included in 12 different forms of communication. It is exhausting when you have to repeatedly tell people things that were communicated to them both verbally AND in writing.
