Just finished reading @groomb.bsky.social 's fascinating book 'Made in Manchester'. I really enjoyed it, as someone who lived and worked in Manchester for many years. Highly recommend it.
İf you feel the need for some cycling related reading with the end of the TDF , I would heartily recommend Guy Roger's book about Eddy Merckx. Some really interesting insights from his rivals and contemporaries. #merckism
Mick Lynch wants a progressive wealth tax, which is a Green Party Policy, with the richest paying the same as everyone else on PAYE, 47%. That would bring in hundred of billions, it is time for the richest to pay what everyone else has been paying their whole lives.

I read and very much enjoyed 'Mickey 7' last year (after seeing the film). So I was delighted to come across 'After the fall' by @edashtonwriting.bsky.social which blends a similar mix of dystopian bleakness with dark humour. Very enjoyable, I'd recommend it highly.
Some really interesting discussions going on about England's upcoming match at altitude against Mexico. I'm surprised that this scenario wasn't anticipated and that England didn't base themselves at altitude. I guess they gambled and prioritised heat acclimatization.
Just finished reading John Lewis-Stempel's charming book, 'La vie'. İt chronicles a year spent farming in rural France. It made me want to move to France immediately although I didn't want to become a farmer. Highly recommend.

Just read The return of Moriarty by Jack Anderson. It's a new take on Holmes and Watson and casts Moriarty in a new light. Could the Professor be a misunderstood genius? Enjoyable and well written, looking forward to the next episode.
