I broke that exact same bone (fourth metatarsal, left foot) two years ago, and it took me months and months to recover. Mounty is an athlete and surrounded by people who can treat him, but don't be surprised if we don't see him till spring training.

This is a great story, and I hope these kids are pushing their way onto the Orioles lineup before long. And I'll just say it -- baseball in general and the O's in particular need more African-American players who can really play the game.

I, a humble 20+ year civil servant, agree with almost all of this, and would add a couple more. One is that the federal government should be more focused on training its workforce. Training is almost always an afterthought, or a last minute spend. Lack of training = slow, deliberate deskilling.

Coco, aka Baby. 9/22-6/26. Gone way too soon. I've had cats in my life nearly all my years, and she may have been the sweetest and most adorable of them all. I miss her intensely.
So she has a blood clot in her aorta. Inoperable. Fatal. Yesterday she was running around, in a little while I'll hold her as she's euthanized. I'm just stunned. A trap door just opened beneath me.
