Baltimore. Orioles (in abeyance--FIRE MIKE ELIAS!). Social democracy. Episcopal Church. Trees. Birds. Clouds. Cats. Coffee. Literature. Music. Wonder. Yep, that's about it.

The year is 2023. Gas is $3.50 a gallon, you're only in the office 2 days a week, and adley rutschmann is the face of your beloved Baltimore Orioles who are stomping on the AL East on their way to 101 wins. you don't know it will never be this good again

This is a great story, and I hope these kids are pushing their way onto the Orioles lineup before long. And I'll just say it -- baseball in general and the O's in particular need more African-American players who can really play the game.

They grew up near each other in Mississippi and know each other well. Now Eric Booth Jr. and Kevin Roberts Jr. are Orioles teammates. “Not a lot of guys get to call their buddy saying they just got drafted to the same team." www.thebanner.com/sports/oriol...

Sharing a gift link to this because I know when I was caretaking my mom every ounce of validation that I was doing something emotionally, physically, professionally and financially impossible helped me feel less alone

I, a humble 20+ year civil servant, agree with almost all of this, and would add a couple more. One is that the federal government should be more focused on training its workforce. Training is almost always an afterthought, or a last minute spend. Lack of training = slow, deliberate deskilling.

"The DOGE era has shown that this outsourcing also represents a real loss of state capacity: a contracted-out state is one whose institutional knowledge is privately owned, and whose loyalty lasts only as long as the next option year." www.liberalcurrents.com/how-to-rebui...

If your understanding of yourself as a man is rooted in power and dominance over others, that's shitty masculinity, wherever you claim to be on the political spectrum. Shitty masculinity is antithetical to civic virtue and a functioning democratic society.

Coco, aka Baby. 9/22-6/26. Gone way too soon. I've had cats in my life nearly all my years, and she may have been the sweetest and most adorable of them all. I miss her intensely.
