Working on cool stuff in games, currently at Second Dinner but previously at Osmo, Kixeye, and Bigpoint. He/Him, I'm a huge nerd.

It's nice that while most everything else in the world is actively crumbling in some way, Nintendo is just out here like "what about a new Metroid and an open world Kirby game in the next few months?"

Beat Final Fantasy 13 this evening! After bouncing off in the first couple hours on release and dismissing it for years, turns out I really REALLY liked it. I'd argue a game like FF16 is a better "game" but FF13 is a better "final fantasy". Visuals, OST, story, combat. So good. 9/10 On to 13-2!

I had to put my dog down yesterday and it feels like a piece of my identity died with her. We had a good almost 12 years together. She was perpetually broken and at the vet often so it shouldn't surprise me as much as it has, but the house feels empty and WFH is about to become very, very lonely.

The Odyssey is unbelievably good. Walking out, my first thoughts were "I can't wait to rewatch" and I can't remember the last movie I felt that way about. Absolutely fantastic theater experience.

That any time something happens that a player doesn't like or that breaks, it's because the developers are somehow lazy. I assure you, most developers are not lazy. We're tired....so unbelievably tired.

game devs: what are the myths that a lot of players of games think are true about making games that are completely untrue? If you could snap your fingers and they suddenly all knew the truth about it what would it be?

Was just reminded that Bo Burnham's Inside might be the greatest timecapsule of 2020-2021 that may have ever been created. It's such a Masterpiece of comedy and such an emotional gut punch throughout.

Did anyone know that Robert De Niro, Jeremy Iron, and Liam Neeson made a South American religious film in 1986 called "There's Mission"? If not, that's ok, neither did I and it's fucking awful (but so beautifully shot)

Spending my morning writing a statement for press inquiries about all this when all I want to do is say "consumers haven't had purchasing power in about ten years now because we gave all of our money to like ten weird guys, what did you all expect"

I really appreciate Sony making the PS6 an easy pass by going digital only. At that point, I'll just lean further into PC and call it good. I find it very funny that this coincides with them pulling their digital releases from PC, Sony just doesn't want me as a customer long-term lol.

Decades of science fiction exploring the risks and societal impacts of AI on humanity in both the short and long terms, urging us to treat technical advancements responsibly, only for us to live in a timeline where people are using Claude to generate apps to track our farts or w/e

Saros is a good ass video game. Got the true ending after just under 20 hours of playtime. Definitely going to be in the conversation for my GOTY in December. The world that Housemarque made is so gloriously heavy and oppressive and the game feels amazing. A step up from Returnal in every way imo.
