Remembered that a mutual asked me to draw cards for a card game that they were doing for a school project and you know what that was fun I think one day I'll draw my own bullshit card art
The push for games to continue to be more cinematic and on the level of movies kinda reinforces this which like okay yeah nice visuals nice framing you got your big actors and your writing is decent, but can you actually MAKE THE DAMN THING FUN AND UNIQUE COMPARED TO EVERYTHING ELSE
Like you'll get certain people (A certain Mr. Naughty Dog comes to mind) that kinda come off that they secretly wish that they worked in film more than actually being into games and it can be noticed, but like yeah you can make your cinematic games. I just want the damn thing to play good.
There's this quote from Al Lowe (guy who worked at Sierra and created Leisure Suit Larry) that essentially says "Some Game Directors secretly yearn to be Film Directors and if they want that, just go work on movies. I still want fun games." And that quote kinda sticks with me.
