In reference to nothing in particular, and definitely not It's A Superpower??, here's a picture from the top front of the bus in Leeds, taken back in June.

A road, with buildings and pedestrians to either side. The picture is taken from higher off the road than you normally get, and, importantly, there's a handle bar and the windshield of a bus visible in the foreground. No cute caps are visible.

Unconvered two stories I wrote for school aged 11-12. One is a retelling of Cinderella but the stepsisters get the happy ending. The other is basically Hardy Boys fanfic. I had a great teacher, but I think the 'you should get this published' note on the mystery was extremely generous.

Got a fortune that said, "Your friendships will strengthen in November." So y'all are on notice; I'll expect signs of someone doing something about that. Of course, it didn't specify *which* November.

Return to work tomorrow. Risking my coworkers asking me to do comedy at them if I tell about my summer, so I've prepared more "small" talk. What's the ideal number of grains of salt per french fry? Which insect would you prefer as a pet? What was most fun about the day you took the fewest steps?

By us and for us! By "us" I mean I had absolutely nothing to do with it and there's very little chance anyone was mining my life for content, but they might have been. Just heard episode one; it's a pleasure to listen to, so well acted, very funny. Huge gift to the autistic community. Go, listen.

Things you should not say at the Canadian border crossing: "I'm meeting a friend from the internet." "I drove 27 hours to see a comedy show." "I'm bringing... snacks? And... camping... stuff? No, I'm not camping." Trust me, I've tested all of them.

I am the kind of anxious traveler that spends time looking up how Canadian gas stations work, but at least I'm not asking about it in travel forums, where it would warrant the same response as the people asking 'will I like the Coliseum' and 'how's my itinerary that hits 20 cities in 5 days'.

Today's contemplation involved the theoretical balance between self-love and accomplishments vs love and friendship received, a la Egyptian weighing of the heart, if all that mattered were one's own emotions at the end. Thankfully had a scone and tea to mitigate the existential darkness of my soul.

Ad claims there's no bad time to eat ice cream. Mostly true, but might I suggest: 1. on a roller coaster 2. while scuba diving 3. in the middle of your dentist appointment

There is a huge change in perspective from "I am a capable grown woman traveling the world" to "I am staying at a parent's house looking at pictures from when I was eight". If I could shift my physical age as easily, I'd really be on to something.

Favorite Sunday activity: peacefully contemplating the potential futility of existence, the implications of time being a dimension something can be outside of, and the terrifying length of eternity.

GREG DAVIES: seems like a kind of a shit task. Everyone just seems like they're going home normally. ALEX HORNE: well before you say that let's have a look at how Odysseus did. cut to panel of AJAX, MENELAUS, AGAMEMNON, and DIOMEDES who are all staring at ODYSSEUS with his head in his hands

Got about 50 hours of driving to do, and I need music. What should I look up? If it isn't 90s country, Broadway, or something played on an oldies station 30 years ago, safe to assume I haven't heard it.

Headline seen today: American World Cup fans lose their minds after discovering third place playoff People around me are pretty chill, but I'd love to meet these Americans who were exploring the wild, discovered an unknown game, and are now running around screaming like they found gold.

Final, most important match of the evening: me vs the *entire colony* of fire ants trying to come in my front door. Round 1, RAID Ants: .5 (affected few) Me: -1 (had to clean it up after) Round 2, water/vinegar Ants: 1.5 Me: -2 (now smell like vinegar) Round 3, very soapy water ...results pending

Out here doing the hard work of being scared to go to the pub so y'all don't have to; threat's already been evaluated. Donations accepted for this public service. (Go England!)

Americans got enough hate pre-Trump for being loud, entitled, and stupid (a reputation I hope I don't embody). Now we can hardly go online without someone hating us for what a man who should be in jail instead of office has done. Why let him also affect our thoughts by even caring how he feels?

Mark Watson@watsoncomedian.bsky.social · 3w ago

He won't have a clue what happened. It's a waste of time talking about 'what Trump thinks of this result'. He has nothing to do with all this. You might as well talk about what Cher thinks about it, or Tutankhamun.

Looking at another open mic tonight, just to check vibes, not perform. Definitely getting back up but trying to figure out how to adjust the weakest spots first.

Refreshing iNaturalist multiple times a day to see new identifications posted is like opening new packs of Pokemon cards. Most are common creatures I have multiple copies of, but occasionally there's something really new and exciting. Current count of new bird species seen/identified is 34!

Uploading photos from going birding after my camera broke, and becoming exactly the kind of iNaturalist observer I'm usually annoyed by. Specifically, "Can you identify this blurry brown speck? Definitely a bird, unless it was a leaf, pinecone, or a figment of our collective imagination. Thanks!"

I'm really bad at getting to know people, so I've prepared some questions for next time: "What is the most interesting experience you've had with a mouse?" "How many milliseconds does it take to think your shortest thought?" "What's your favorite tardigrade?" Idk guys, am I doing small talk right?
