One of the most surprising things I've learned in recent months about California is that we have the lowest wholesale electricity prices in the US. If our state's investor-owned utilities had done a better job of keeping their equipment from starting wildfires, we'd have significantly cheaper power.

Even the untrained eye can see that intermittent WindWaterSolar is closer to matching demand, particularly summer peak demand, than is baseload nuclear, year after year after year. Nuclear stays flat, except when half of it is down 1-3 times per year. WWS rises in summer.
