We collaborate with @discoveryprogramme.bsky.social for our @ucdarchaeology.bsky.social student training - the DP lead sessions on digital recording. Many thanks to Rebecca, Shiva and Rob today. Rebecca captured wonderful images of our excavations and landscape context. See 2/2 for video! (1/2)
Shenanigans on site at Glendalough today with this year’s students. As someone who delights in taking photos of other people taking photos I suppose I had this coming. 🤣 They all have the phone in front of them in view and of course someone had to take a photo of the whole thing!
This was the first week of our annual ARCH10180 Archaeological Field Skills excavations at Glendalough which will be followed by our community excavations. We are grateful to the Glendalough community for their welcome and to the landowner for allowing access. www.facebook.com/share/v/1BUm...
Researchers from University College Dublin and Universiteit Gent use specialist survey technology to investigate one of Ireland's most important prehistoric sites at Mountsandel- without excavation. causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk/news/communi... www.facebook.com/share/r/17tq...

I had a great time this morning sharing my (very minimal) flint knapping skills at CEAMC. The students also had the chance to flake shale and grind a Moynagh Point roughout. They surprised my by grinding a nice blade on a roughout I had given up on!
UCD Archaeology students doing their experimental archaeology practicals today, as they do every Friday at CEAMC! This week, stone carving and flint knapping with Dr Anita Radini and Dr Ryan Lash, assisted ably by Lucy Robinson and Deborah Buchanan.
Congratulation to @ucdarchaeology.bsky.social delegates Prof Graeme Warren, Dr Martin Moucheron and Deborah Buchanan who presented at the recent Meso2025, at Ferrara, Italy. This was the Eleventh International Conference on the Mesolithic in Europe which takes place every four years.

Just finished a week of fieldwork on Late Glacial/Early Holocene landscapes/archaeology in Glen Dee, Mar Lodge Estate, Cairngorms, w/ colleagues Sam Kelly @arctic-glacial.bsky.social, Phillipe de Smedt & teams. Tx to @nts-archaeology.bsky.social, Mar Lodge Estate & @ucdarchaeology.bsky.social 1/8
Can the archaeological collective help? These are finds from our recent excavation at Glendalough. All from cultivated soils with lots of C19-20 material. Triangular(ish) sections, varied widths. They are very clearly a 'thing' but we don't know what. Any suggestions/parallels appreciated.
